 Wearing Black for Your Wedding

0 Comments 18 November 2011

Vera Wang, the celebrity designer, now wants to take a break from the color black after having designed three white wedding dresses for Kim Kardashian’s unfortunate August nuptials. The latest move by this designer has actually taken the fashion world by storm – the move is to introduce a collection of bridal gowns in inky black. She unveiled her line of gowns in fall 2012 show.

Wang point of view is that most designers have always been dabbling in a bit nontraditional bridal-gown colors. They have already used pastels as well as soft neutrals for some of the dresses, and added accents and sashes in stronger shades and colors, such as sable, plum, and even black. But Wang has decided to be the first celebrity designer to get rid of the ultimate hue taboo.

Here, it is crucial to mention that Wang’s take on black is quite different yet refreshing; she’s after lingerie details and sheer layering. Though most fashion stores still believe that ivory is going to be the popular option, some brides would really want to see and order black bridal gowns. It is easy to find brides in burgundy, red, or turquoise wedding gowns, but don’t be surprised if you find someone in black. Wang is a trendsetter, and black gowns are very much in this season; just make sure you go for more detailing and pair your gown with something festive and more cheerful, like hot pink.
