Fashion Designer Tip of the Day, Chanel Naked Bags, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Posted on 30 September 2006 by Angelique

In response to the recent Heathrow demands of travelling see-through, Chanel have come up with the ‘naked’ bag. I for one, wouldn’t want a bag that was entirely transparent like this. I remember them being vaguely in fashion when I was a teenager and personally, would like them to remain in those days! Prices are yet to be determined but they will be available starting October for those of you flying to Europe this upcoming winter.

Press release reads:
How many secrets can a woman’s bag hold? Having passed through the x-ray machine, CHANEL’s new Naked Bag will answer this enigma when travelling by plane or train.

To travel with transparency, Karl Lagerfeld came up with a mini-collection of plastic and truly bare bags. Simultaneously elegant and practical, all have black, gray, golden or white piping, or are purposely left bare. Stylish and aesthetic, they come in three models in a range of four colors.

Mary Kate Ashley’s Fendi Booties, Couture in the CIty Fashion Blog

Posted on 30 September 2006 by Angelique

In addition to those gorgeous white sunglasses she’s been spotted in lately. We’ve tracked down her Fendi booties for all you MKA super-fans to purchase.

I love how effortlessly chic she looks here. Okay, so the cigarette aint so cool, but the outfit is perfect. Booties are absolutely the new boots to have this summer. Especially for those who think ankle boots just look silly on them.

Mary Kate wears Fendi’s Peep Toe Lace-up Pump which look really uncomfortable to wear, but hey if Mary kate can pull it off, then so can you. Available from eLuxury for $615

Milan Spring/Summer 2007 Wrapup III

The clothes are composed of strong, bold colours: black, red, orange, purple and white. This collection was all about the sixties: from the short shifts to long, flowy dresses. At first glance, the Gucci girls looked more like 60s dolls than sexy dancing queens, but the extreme mini dresses prove otherwise. read more

Lionel Richie’s “I Call It Love” Video Featuring Nicole Richie

Has anyone else seen the “I Call It Love” video by Loniel Richie? The song is from Loniel Richie’s new album “Coming Home” and it features Nicole Richie and Adam Rodriguez. I have to say that I really like the song and Nicole looks really cute. She’s still tiny but doesn’t look sickly. Let me know what you think. Click here to watch the video.

My Favorite ‘IT’ Bag: Lucia Bella’s Femme Fatale Handbag

Posted on 29 September 2006 by Angelique

I’m always on the look-out for a handbag that is stylish and feminine, while being functional as well. The Femme Fatale Handbag is a complete package of perfection and the one haute accessory you shouldn’t pass up. This bag is not only eye-candy; it is high quality, made with the finest leathers and materials and large enough to hold all of the day to night essentials. The design is amazing and in my opinion, gives the Marc by Marc Jacobs Sylvie” bag a run for its money.

I live in a resort mountain community full of trust-fund babies and ski bunnies, and as I walked into a bistro to meet some friends for lunch, I was stopped 3 times and asked where I got my bag; and then interrupted twice during lunch and asked the same question. Now if that’s not a true testament as to how to-die-for this bag is… I really don’t know what is.

My two Fav Femme Fatales are the Black and the Mahogany. The Black Femme Fatale is perfect for a casual or dressy outfit; the gold/brassy studs lined over the rich, black suede are striking, and the tassels complete the design. The Mahogany is just beautiful; you MUST see this bag in person. With the gold and brown colors and contrasting textures of leather paired with antique brass hardware this bag is the perfect fall bag.

Femme Fatale Bag Details:

  • The leather is soft, creamy and luscious and the bag has that rich, intoxicating “new bag” scent.
  • The Femme Fatale has a nice, thick leather strap that fits comfortably over the shoulder and doesn’t slip off while you are walking around. I LOVE the two front pockets; they are perfect for your keys, cell-phone, BlackBerry, etc.
  • The bag is the perfect fit; it sits right at the hip.
  • The style is so now, yet everlasting.
  • The features are striking: The tassels and studs complete the bag and are a nice, surprising touch.

Jessica Simpson Does it Again, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Posted on 28 September 2006 by Angelique

When will Jessica ever learn? Here she is again looking like a potato sack ruining what is actually a very pretty dress. What’s wrong this time? The jeans for one, and the length for another. Okay, so Jess may not be 5′11″ model height, but if that’s the case, then at least wear the dress shorter than that so people actually see some skin. The more leg on show, the more elongated you look. Especially if you’re going to be wearing jeans under it.

The dress as it is originally meant to be worn by Michael Kors Spring/Summer 07

Fashion Designer Tip of the Day, White Sunglasses, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Posted on 28 September 2006 by Angelique

Mary-kate Olsen has recently been seen sashaying around town with these cool plastic white frames. Guess that means everyone and their mother will be seen in white sunglasses too… so to help you on your hunt for the perfect white sunnies, check these out:

These Dita sunglasses are thinner than MK’s but they are still stylishly cool. Available from mycatwalk for about $200.

Pure white from the front with a bit of bling on the side. For those who think all white is just a bit too plain. Avilable from kate spade for $195

True divas where it oversized. You can’t go wrong with these oversized Michael Kors sunnies. Available from nordstrom for $90

These are my favourite by far though. These Fendi wraparounds just ooze of glamour. Available from nordstrom for $200

The Perfect durable jacket, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Posted on 28 September 2006 by Angelique

It’s important to own a trenchcoat and a long black coat that goes with everything. But it’s also vitally important to own a stylish yet functional and DURABLE coat for the winter season.

I think I’ve found the perfect one. This Irish Tweed Mackintosh blazer from Belstaff is divine. It’s simple, body hugging, with expandable pockets and a faux fur trim for extra warmth. I love it.

Fashion Designer Tip of the Day, Ruby Red Shoes, Couture in the City Fashion Blog

Posted on 28 September 2006 by Angelique

Add a dash of colour to your little black dress with these great red shoes.

I love the black grossgrain cord and ribbon trim. This is perfect for both day and night. Available from Nordstroms for $99.95

If you can’t get rid of your wedges and want a playful autumn look, then go for these bargain Boardwalk Wedges. Available from delias for $25.

If you know you’ll be walking loads and want to spice up that flirty flowy black shirt dress, these will go picture perfect with them. Available from bluefly for $145.99

This to me, is red hot sex on heels. I love its simplicity and the texture, and the lithe ankle strap. Wear to work in a fabulous black dress with denim jacket, then just whip off the jacket after hours and head to a swanky bar with the girls. Available from asos.com for £95
