Diane Von Furstenberg’s Spring 2008 collection debuted recently at fashion week and as usual, did not dissapoint. I could have done without all of the headgear (fedora’s are so Ashlee Simpson last week and no one’s worn head scarves since before Lindsay went to rehab), but otherwise, it was pure Von Furstenberg magic.

Something about this collection reminds me of my chic grandmother’s (Gigi, as we called her) closet circa 1978. She lived in South Florida and wore white pants with green and yellow tops and gold chains. Fabulous. There’s something so fresh and clean about this line that is reminiscent of what I call the “Gigi” style, that I am glad Von Furstenberg was able to capture.

Hopefully the head scarf trend won’t carry over into spring, but otherwise I see wide leg white pants and chic tropicalia in fashion’s future this spring.
