Career Wear Essentials, with an Indie Twist

I may have begun to lose my faith in fashion…this weekend, my trip to the mall in search for some new career wear proved disasterous. Why is it that cubicles=boring button down shirts? Ick. I did get a few great career wear essentials at the GAP (after much dissapointment at Old Navy, The Loft and others):

GAP Empire Dress, $42.99

This empire dress from the GAP was so flattering and cute and is the perfect wear-to-work basic. Whether paired with heels or flats, a cardigan and an arty necklace or just on it’s own, this dress is super versatile. It even has some hidden pockets, and also comes in black and grape.

I also found it hard to find anything suitable for work that was also interesting. Sure, there are some cute things at Target now and then, but you always run the risk of someone else at the office wearing the same thing. If you’ve been dying to find a new way to spruce up your office wardrobe, check out these unique (and corporate appropriate) finds from LeFashionista:

Kahri Rose Peplum Jacket

This one reminds me of what Amy Winehouse might wear if she worked as an administrative assistant…edgy, but professional at the same time!

D Celestine Ema Warm Necklace

This is just the right piece of jewelry to add a little something to my new blue dress! Arty, unique and interesting (without being too showy or in your face), this is a great necklace to pair with a dress, a cardigan or a scoop neck sweater.

Misile Quebec Tunic

Paired with skinny black pants, this tunic from Misile is the perfect unique look for work. Cinch it with a unique belt to complete your look, and wear it with heels (as shown) for a hot weekend look.

If your current work wardrobe is giving you a case of the Monday’s, give it a lift with a few interesting pieces from LeFashionista because trust me, the mall is just going to dissapoint you anyway!
