Style.com Trend Report: Fall Fashion Forecasts

1 Comment 18 August 2008

Fall Fashion is upon us ladies, and from what I’ve seen, there’s a lot to be excited about. While some tried and true looks are making an appearance (hello tartan plaids and tweeds!), this falls’ styles leave a little more room for creativity. Some of our favorite looks:

Winter Garden

Michael Kors

This season, florals aren’t just for spring…dark purples, navy, brown and gray floral patterns are showing up on dresses and silky tops alike. Textures like feathers and furs (faux, of course) give dimension to this look in a non-bulky way. Look for “winter floral” coats with fur collars, silky floral print top and feathered accents to create this look.

Superhero Worship

Roberto Cavalli

Leave your capelets and swords of power at home…were talking futuristic lines and superhero inspired details for fall. Look for fiercely detailed shoulders, in-your-face belts, and sci-fi inspired looks to create this haute style.

Country Life

Juicy Couture

Classic and super sexy, the “country life” look is all about structure and menswear-done-right. Plaid fitted vests, nubby jackets and equestrian detailing help to create this perfect fall style.

Lousy economy got your wallet filled with moths? Resurrect some pieces from last season and transition them into fall without breaking the bank. Turn your favorite spring floral dresses into a “winter garden” style by pairing it with dark textured tights and a belted cardigan. “Country Life” more your speed? Bust out your old flannel from 1996 (or just borrow your dads’) and top it off with a fitted vest and skinny jeans.

  1. I have to admit I am not at all thrilled with the big shoulders look. I just don’t think women are suppose to have sharp angles. I’ll check out style.com for the full report. Thanks.
