Hollywood is full of glamour, high fashion and yes, lies. “The Art of Social War,” the debut novel from author Jodi Wing, brings these dirty truths to light in the most entertaining way. If you have a trip to the ski lodge (or the Caribbean, for that matter) in your future, then be sure to pack this book as a vacay read. This book provides the perfect brain candy for a long winters night or a poolside respite.

What makes “The Art of Social War” so fun? Is it the designer name dropping? The likeable and relateable heroine, Stacey Makepeace? Or is it the colorful and spot-on depictions vacuous members of the Hollywood elite? I found that the recipe for this great book was the combination of all of these things married with an engaging and easy to read narrative.

So what happens in this book? Well, I won’t give it all away, but the premise is a fish-out-of water tale about a couple of newlyweds that get thrown to the sharks. Our main character, Stacey, trades in her like as a New York City PR agent on the top of her game to become a Beverly Hills stay-at-home wife to a movie mogul. The transition is tough (and funny), and the new couple are faced with coyotes (literal and metaphorical) at every angle. Can they survive Tinseltown? Read it to find out!
