New York Fashion Week: Monique Lhuillier Fall 2009 Collection

Posted by Jacqueline H on February 16, 2009

I loved the Monique Lhuillier Fall 2009 collection. She channeled the “Modern Ballet Russe,” as she called it. The collection–shown in the Oak Room at the Plaza Hotel - which was chock-full of the glamorous eveningwear that Ms. Lhuillier is known for. Gorgeous, gorgeous gowns that reflected our modern era. With a futuristic touch. We are seeing a dab of every decade here influenced in the collection. From 1920’s Gatsby to 1950’s old school charm. Even a flare of Egyptian and Greek artistry, with the composition of flowing gowns. But nothing can beat the influence as I mentioned earlier with that ‘futuristic’ trend. The composition of different levels of fabrics and garments used is so apparent. So clean, and so very hip. And adds just a touch of chic, flare, and divine beauty in the gowns. Once again the colors are frequent in the creams, whites, grays, and purples. And of course ‘classic black’ dominates. Ms.Lhullier we applaud you with standing ovation for a superb and glamorous collection!
