Actress Amy Adams has appeared as a nun, as Amelia Earhardt, and as a fairy princess, showing the world that she has the range to take on pretty much any role. She recently finished filming her new movie Leap Year in Ireland, scheduled for an early 2010 release, in which she stars with Matthew Goode as a woman who wants to propose to her beau on Leap Day, February 29.

In the movie she plays a character who likes to plan out every detail of life and, quite naturally, her plans go off course when she meets a handsome, rakish Irishman. In real life, Adams is engaged to Darren Le Gallo, and her own wedding planning is nothing like her character’s.

She recently told USA Today that she would rather elope than have to deal with all the tasks that go with planning a wedding, even if they’re done by a wedding planner. Instead, she hopes for a party with friends to celebrate her and Le Gallo’s relationship.

Her most recent celebrated role is as Amelia Earhart in the new movie Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. Also starring in the movie are Robin Williams, Hank Azaria, Ben Stiller, and Owen Wilson. Director Shawn Levy told the press at the movie’s recent world premiere, “I don’t know that there’s a better actress in her generation.”

Even the iconic Meryl Streep says that Adams has the chops: “She’s the real thing,” she told Vanity Fair last year. Streep starred in the movie Doubt, and is cast with Adams in an upcoming biopic about Julia Child called Julie & Julia.
