Hayden Panettiere, star of television show Heroes, had a great time in high school, but before that, she was tormented by a possy of mean girls, according to the August issue of Details: “I was tortured, emotionally tortured by these girls,” she said.

However, of high school, she recently told MTV, “I had a great high school experience. I had a lot of fun, and I was wild and went crazy and was reckless, but I didn’t have the traditional high school experience. I was going through home schooling. But I went to prom, and I went to homecoming, and I was in the yearbook.”

Panettiere, who plays a cheerleader/superhero on Heroes, has the title role in the new movie I Love You, Beth Cooper,” which is based on the book of the same name by author Larry Doyle.

Now that the movie has wrapped, she’s busy filming the fourth season of Heroes. She is also active in the animal rights movement, specifically in the attempt to end commercial whaling, but she admits that it is a long, slow process.

In addition to all her acting and animal rights work, Panettiere is also on the cover of the August 2009 issue of Seventeen magazine. The magazine features an interview with her.
