SIWY Candies

Posted on 31 August 2009 by Haya

After a long trip to Barcelona, I have finally arrived but can’t seem to fight off this terrible jetlag! But today I decided to step out and walk around the city and find new stores, designers and “como no” street style…

I was not disappointed at all with what I was seeing in the streets of Barcelona, especially when I walked around the Old City also known as Barrio Gotico, where I saw a group of girls and one of them was wearing a pair of jeans that caught my eye. I decided I had to know where she got them, and who makes them! She said she got them in Paris in a boutique and commented that it was an LA based designer! So I decided to do my research online about SIWY and let you girls know so you can all look fabulous in your new coolest fall pair of SIWY!

Michelle Siwy, behind Siwy, is a designer based out of New York who wanted to add New York style to a mainly California dominated market. T’s denim that truly fascinates her: she looks at it from various perspectives, colourwashing it, creating incredible cuts and combining it with leggins. I love her denim creations, and her sequined leggins are really striking too. Season in season out, celebs like Sienna Miller and Kate Moss get their hands on a few pairs of her jeans.

Vintage details, lots of handmade details and an unmistakable style that’s revolutionising the industry. If you want to wear stylish jeans this fall, you need a pair of Siwys. Take a look at these 22 photos and find your pair…

Alexa Chung H&M Leggings

Posted on 29 August 2009 by Haya

11

I just got back from New York and feel overwhelmed with all the styles, window displays, street fashion and just fabulous old shopping:)

I promised myself I would go around Spring Street and Prince Street, and have a little peek around Soho and the Lower East Side, but all my time was consumed with the company of friends, dining, dancing and conversations in a Park Avenue apartment terrace overlooking the city!

What I did remember to do though is that I promised you girls to get another Alexa Chung look, but I thought why not give it a different twist? So no pics of Alexa today instead let’s get a Chung inspired look!

It is easy to get and sexy to wear, my favourite garment of this fall the H&M sequince leggings, you can’t go wrong with them, this is the key for any look and then you can add a loose top in any colour you choose, or a cute dress, or even a buttoned up boyfriend shirt! Check out the ones I have selected from Urban Outfitters as well as their new Silence & Noise blazers,( by the way Silence & Noise is my new favourite brand at the moment, so you know what to expect from my next post!)

Going back to the look of today, check out these fantastic and colourful H&M party heels from their Party collection, or the Deena & Ozzy suede zip boot, both to accessories the leggings for a different look, your pick casual or party!
And last but surely not least the bag, here is a selection from H&M and Urban Outfitters where Deux Lux offers you a wide variety of their line, a little treat for us girls is these 4 sweet lipbalms that come in a delicious packaging of  Godiva lookalike box:)

Give A Black Jumper A Fashion-Forward Twist Like Michelle Trachtenberg

Posted on 28 August 2009 by Angelique

Michelle Trachtenberg

Michelle Trachtenberg

At the GUESS Flagship Boutique opening in New York City, actress Michelle Trachtenberg was totally on-trend and cutting-edge. Michelle updated a basic black cowl neck jumpsuit by adding a pop of color with an oversized hot pink Giuseppe Zanotti clutch and matching hot pink nails. She wasn’t afraid to push it a bit further by adding more electricity to the look with some standout jewelry pieces including a sparkly cocktail ring, statement bracelet, and black hoop earrings. To add some length to her legs, she opted for simple black peep-toe pumps. A black jumpsuit is a super versatile, easy-to-wear item that can be dressed up or toned down to suit any occasion. Glam it up like Michelle with eye-catching accessories, or tone it down by pairing it with sandals and a few muted pieces.

America Ferrera Dresses as a Hot Dog for ‘Ugly Betty’

Posted on 28 August 2009 by Angelique

America Ferrera on location for Ugly Betty in Times Square

America Ferrera

Ugly Betty star America Ferrera was seen Tuesday afternoon in Lower Manhattan dressed as a giant hot dog. Michael Urie, who plays Marc St. James on the show, was dressed as a giant bun. Apparently the costume was difficult to get into and out of, because Ferrera had her assistant feed her a banana during a break in filming. No information was available on what kind of plot twist resulted in Betty having to dress as a hot dog.

The show, which was almost canceled, is going into its fourth season, and is welcoming a new member of the cast. Television star Kristen Johnston will be joining the cast as a temp at Mode magazine named Helen. Johnston has done quite a bit of theater since winning an Emmy for her work in the former TV hit Third Rock from the Sun, having been in The Women, Aunt Dan and Lemon, and The Understudy. Come November, she will star in Mint Theatre’s production of So Help Me God!

Ugly Betty will return to the television line-up on October 9. In addition to Ferrera and Urie, the cast of the show includes Vanessa Williams, Beckie Newton, Ana Ortiz, Mark Indelicato, Tony Plana, and Judith Light.

It is Possible to Channel 80s Fashion Tastefully

Posted on 28 August 2009 by Angelique

Anyone who lived through the 80s has cringe-inducing photos documenting the looks of the time: aggressive hair, giant shoulder pads, overly dramatic makeup … But there are some designers out there who are reinterpreting some of the good stuff from the 80s: the originality, the boldness, and the frank sexiness.

Emilio Pucci Dresses

A good place to start is with this Patchwork Cap-Sleeve dress by Emilio Pucci. Sure, Pucci may be best known for bright, abstract prints, but here the swirly aesthetic is put to use dramatically in shades of black, with solid and transparent patches. It gives a whole new definition to “patchwork.” Length is just under 20 inches from natural waistline. $1,860.00

Kate Spade Sandals

Kate Spade is an expert at knowing just how far to push a trend so as to maximize the use of her pieces in your wardrobe. These Kate Spade Women’s Glamour Sandals are no exception. The sexy T strap lengthens the leg, while grosgrain ribbon laces through the chain strap. Suede uppers. $299.00

Rebecca Minkoff Handbags

There was a certain tough-girl chic in the 80s that was expressed through bold, dark make-up and the use of studded leather. Rebecca Minkoff brings back the studded leather in the Stud Devote Tote. It is a black leather handbag with rings, gold studs, and a belted top. Closure is magnetic and the inside lining is tan and blue striped. It has two open pockets and one zip pocket inside. A roomy 17 x 11 x 7.5 inches, with a 31 inch adjustable strap, the tote is $695.00

My Love for Coach Cambridge Collection

Posted on 28 August 2009 by Angelique

I was really never a big fan of Coach handbags until the past two years. I must say Coach really has stepped up their game with luxury handbags. I have had a change of heart and I am totally considering a Coach purchase. I am so drooling over the new Cambridge Collection. My top two favorites are the Fringe Alexa and the leather Alexa Satchel. What do you guys think? Would you purchase either of these two styles?

Fringe Large Alexa - $1,200

The Fringe Alexa is the collection’s centerpiece, with subdued studding, a mixed woven leather and chain handle, and of-the-moment fringe detailing giving this piece the ultimate in haute hippie flair. Bright metallics return this season and the Metallic Textured Cambridge Clutch and Metallic Alexa mix this trend with tough texture and perforated leather for an effect that is undeniably modern and edgy.

Jessica Biel, Brad Pitt Top Celebs for Hacks with Viruses

Posted on 28 August 2009 by Angelique

Jessica Biel looking good in fitness wear on the set of Valentines Day

Jessica Biel

According to antivirus software provider McAfee, searching and clicking on links for Jessica Biel is more likely to open your computer to spyware and viruses than searching on any other celebrity. Last year’s top virus attractor was Brad Pitt. Runners-up in the dubious honor include Beyonce, Tom Brady, Jessica Simpson, and Jennifer Aniston.

Hackers attach malicious computer code to websites about certain celebrities. When a celebrity skyrockets in popularity, hackers can target many more people. Antivirus software is essential to running a computer these days. It doesn’t have to be McAfee, but computer users who frequent celebrity websites should try to stay a step ahead of the malicious software that often gets attached to those sites by installing and using anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. Getting rid of the viruses themselves can be very frustrating.

On the other side of the issue, those who dislike McAfee for its ability to cause computer slow-downs and for what they believe to be McAfee’s obsolete technology say that searching celebrity sites isn’t the problem, but rather using archaic anti-virus programs like McAfee lead users into thinking their PC is safe when it isn’t.
