Having recently made her directorial debut with the short film These Vagabond Shoes, actress Scarlett Johansson is now rumored to be one of the top actresses being considered for a new movie called My Week with Marilyn.
These Vagabond Shoes is a short film about “The tranquility of solitude break[ing] through the cacophony of the city as a man makes his way across Manhattan to the sea at Coney Island.” It stars Kevin Bacon and recently debuted at the L.A. Shorts festival.
As for the Monroe film, producer David Parfitt and director Simon Curtis are reportedly considering Johansson along with Amy Adams and Michelle Williams for the part of Marilyn Monroe. The script is adapted from the diary of Colin Clark, who worked for Laurence Olivier in 1957 and was assigned to assist Monroe when she was in London to film The Prince and the Showgirl.
Clark’s diary contains information about Monroe’s visit to Queen Elizabeth’s apartments in Windsor Castle and other behind-the-scenes moments. Though excerpts of the diary were published in 1958, the entries pertaining to one particular week (the one with Monroe) were kept private until Clark died in 2002. Those secret diary entries were adapted to form the plot of the film.
