A sequel to last year’s movie Sex and the City is confirmed to be filming in Manhattan. All four stars, Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), Kim Cattrall (Samantha), and Kristin Davis (Charlotte) are returning to the roles that made them famous, and SATC writer Michael Patrick King is the writer-director.
The movie is set to premiere in May 2010, and could feature some of New York’s best faces. The film reportedly did an open casting call in August.
Parker was seen outside a luxury Manhattan apartment Tuesday filming a scene in which she wore a white dress with gold Christian Louboutin heels and gold aviator sunglasses. Chris Noth (Mr. Big) was seen later in the day.
Parker is said to have had her famous mole removed last year, but SATC makeup artists drew it back on for character continuity. One scene she filmed Tuesday was a flashback scene where she dressed in a Flashdance style outfit: cut up sweatshirt, skinny jeans, Converse shoes. She was also seen in a purple crepe dress.
Not much has been revealed in the way of plot, but rumors have it that Mr. Big runs into financial trouble because of the worldwide banking collapse.
Last summer’s big-screen adaptation of HBO’s hit series reigned at the box office, bringing in $57 million in its opening weekend.

I though “Annie” was the role that made SJP famous.
