Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have been together and apart repeatedly for the past 20 years. But now it appears as if they are together for good, because celebrity spies have reported that the two are engaged to be married. Cruz was also seen exiting the office of an OBGYN in Madrid, fueling rumors that she is expecting. Other rumors are that the engagement was made to appease Cruz’s Catholic parents assuming she is with child.

A “friend” of Cruz and Bardem have said, according to the NY Daily News, that the two are telling friends they will get married. Nobody will confirm whether the couple are having a child. One of the interesting influences on this couple is that their relationship has been interwoven with their careers. The two first met when Penelope was 16 and Javier was 21 when both were working on a film called Jamon Jamon. Though Cruz put an end to the relationship after the movie wrapped, the two were back together by 1997, when they worked together on the movie Live Flesh. In 2008’s Woody Allen film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the pair’s on-screen chemistry was a large part of what made the movie so appealing.
