Two singers you might not expect to show up in the same sentence are responsible for the two biggest hits in the UK in 2009. Lady Gaga’s single Poker Face and Susan Boyle’s rendition of I Dreamed a Dream were the biggest selling singles in the UK last year. Boyle’s debut sold a million and a half copies in six weeks, while Poker Face sold 800,000 copies.

Miss Gaga can also claim the first Number 1 song on the UK’s 2010 singles chart, with her song Bad Romance.

In other exciting news for the 24-year-old, the Palms Casino Resort manager in Las Vegas has offered Lady Gaga a residency at the famous casino after watching her show and reportedly being “blown away.” He was impressed by the star’s refusal to attend an after party later, and also presumably by her wardrobe, which will fit right in Vegas.

London’s Daily Mail reports that the star performed her New Year’s Eve gig in Miami wearing a bra and panties and wondered if the look was intentional since “the two items didn’t quite match.” The bra was reportedly made from satin, with the panties appearing to be made from PVC, which one would suspect would chafe.
