Leave it to Diane von Furstenberg to give us a Fall 2010 look that takes the very best of seventies bohemian style, disco glam, and the rich, dark colors that seem to be so popular in the Fall 2010 collections, and create something wonderful, new, and original. Her clothes included lovely embellishments like metal half-moons, draped on sheer ballerina-like skirts. But the designs also looked beautifully cozy, as if they were made to be worn by the indy artist who never forgets that she’s a woman.
But don’t let this description lead you to think that her clothes are somehow demure and submissive. Not at all. They are wonderfully strong – in some cases aggressively so – and they do borrow some things from menswear, as has been another runway trend this Fashion Week. But Ms. Von Furstenberg designs for women: women who can totally kick ass and look gorgeous doing so.

Her clothes scream strength and girl power. Anyone would look hot in these clothes. Provided they had the right attitude: strong and independent.
