New York Fashion Week Fall 2010: Rag & Bone

Here’s hoping that next winter is as bleak and cold as this winter is turning out to be. That’s because the Rag & Bone collection that was sent down the runway last week was nothing if not practical. It all looked toasty, and a couple of plaid pieces almost – do I dare say it out loud? – had a slight grunge vibe to them.

The collection featured lots of gray, black, and even Nordic styling on some of the sweaters. The only danger is that these looks are so very wearable by actual people that there’s a chance it will be overdone, and by 2012 we’ll vow never to wear thick gray practical winter stuff ever again. Between Rag & Bone and Nicole Miller, there was a lot in the way of somber tones, with grays and blacks dominating.

There were celebrities in attendance too, from Ann Dexter-Jones to to Anna Wintour to Kings of Leon Jared and Caleb Followill. It turns out that Caleb’s girlfriend, Lily Aldridge, was one of the models on the catwalk. Who knew? They fit right in even though, as Caleb confessed, his boots were three years old.
