Have you seen the latest draped mini skirts? Kristen Stewart, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ali Larter have all been photographed in these hot leg-revealing skirts. They’re basic minis with swags of fabric draped around them, usually on the diagonal. If you like wearing minis, you’ll have no trouble integrating these into your wardrobe. The draping, when done correctly, actually sugar coats any figure flaws you might have, and while the weather is still cool, black tights worn with them will make it an easy look to try if you’re shy about short skirts.
The first example is this dark grey-blue draped skirt by Boutique, available at TopShop. This one is knee-length, so it’s great for those who want to try the trend but may be a little shy about revealing a lot of leg. The draping visibly slims the hips, and the color goes with pretty much everything. And because it’s made of 100% silk, you get the draping effect without bulk.
ShopBop has this Three Dots skirt with draping detail in either dark blue or black. It’s made out of a comfy Viscose / Spandex jersey and the length is adjustable!
ASOS offers the trend in a bright pink and white print skirt of 100% polyester. It’s the perfect color for spring and would look great with a slim black tee – long sleeved or short, depending on the weather.
Rachel Pally makes a slightly longer version of the draped skirt in either black or white Modal / Spandex jersey. It can actually be worn as a strapless top as well! As a skirt, it is probably the most conservative of the lot, and would fit right in to a lot of work wardrobes, especially when worn with classic pumps.
Would you wear this trend?
