Fall 2010 is bringing back a lot of classic looks. Why, even Marc Jacobs has gone traditional, with looks that combine Mad Men verve with an understated schoolgirl sexiness. Another trend making a welcome comeback for Fall 2010 is the short fur jacket, which is sometimes referred to as a “chubby” because of the proportions. What’s new this time around? Color and texture variations.
I bought a fabulous faux fur chubby a few years ago when the trend was lying low, and boy am I glad I did! It will be perfect over jeans or over a dress once the weather turns cold. And don’t worry if your budget doesn’t run to real fur. Today’s faux furs can be made to look enough like the real thing to confound even experts. Additionally, many of the texture and color variations apparent for Fall 2010 lend themselves readily to faux fur, so you should have no trouble participating in this trend if you can’t afford (or do not approve of) real fur.
What do you wear a chubby with? The question should be, what don’t you wear a chubby with? Here are a few ideas, but I bet you can think of many more:
Over a sexy lace top and distressed jeans, with heels or boots
Atop a short, fitted mini dress. Black with black tights and a pair of awesome heels or black high heel boots is a flattering take.
Over a long dress and sparkly heels for a winter wedding (wear your hair up for extra formality)
In place of a suit jacket on your way to work (stow the suit jacket in your bag, or skip it altogether once you’re at the office)
