Reluctant fashion star Taylor Momsen has been chosen by Madonna and daughter Lourdes as the face of the new ad campaign for the mother-daughter-designed junior fashion range Material Girl. The Material Girl collection features mini-dresses, fashion accessories, skinny jeans, and leather jackets. It will be launched in August and sold at Macy’s.

Momsen has become known for inciting daring fashion trends, particularly in the stage outfits she wears as front for her band Pretty Reckless. However, she claims that she only chooses what to wear based on what’s clean. When it comes to style, she says, “I just don’t bother, I’m just too lazy.”

Those who were around in the 80s will find something familiar about the Material Girl fashion style. The outfits show a certain influence of Madonna’s first big movie, Desperately Seeking Susan, with their decidedly anti-preppy combinations.
