Tommy Hilfiger, one of America’s top fashion designers, and known worldwide for his classic, preppy styles, is starting a new lifestyle brand called “Tommy.” The line is expected to add some edginess via handmade details, and will be marketed in new and creative ways. Knits will sell for $24 to $59, and denim, $79 to $129. Outerwear will start at $129 for men and $139 for women.
Gary Sheinbaum, CEO of Tommy Hilfiger, said recently, “It will be more of a fun, dynamic experience. The product itself, we feel, is going to be a fresh take on the preppy traffic, done in a fresh, young, cool way.”
This fashion news comes only months after the Tommy Hilfiger brand was bought by Philips-Van Heusen (owner of Calvin Klein) to make one of the biggest clothing companies in the world.
Hilfiger, a fashion industry giant, said that he plans to remain involved in the new lifestyle brand, adding, “This is the next phase in the global evolution and expansion of the Tommy Hilfiger brand.”
