Sandy Sahn, Bluefly’s Dress buyer, loves the thrill of the chase. “The best part of my job is discovering the next hot designer and uncovering the important trends.” With seven years of major department store experience, and 2 years managing her own online contemporary boutique, Sandy’s knack for trend forecasting and love for the .com world are truly put to use at Bluefly. “Dresses have become such an important category. After the sportswear-obsessed ’70s and the power-look-driven ’80s and ’90s, women are embracing the no-stress dress. It’s the idea of putting on one garment, rather than matching a top to pants or a skirt. Throw a dress on and go!”
1. This fall’s hottest dress trends:
My absolute favorite fall dress trend is Draping (think Grecian-inspired flowing fabrics in distinctive colors). I’m also pining for leather sheaths, bold embellished minis, and silhouettes with cut out detail.
2. How to hunt for the dress that looks amazing online and amazing on your body:
You gotta know your measurements. Pull out the tape measure and wrap it around your bust, waist, and hips. Your local tailor would be happy to help measure you. On Bluefly, we include the exact measurements for a size 4, and then it is easy to size up or down from there.
