Friends, family, and couture fashion designers will all be present in September at a private memorial service for the late designer Alexander McQueen at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral in September.

At the memorial, fashion designers and others will celebrate McQueen’s life and work. McQueen killed himself in February, reportedly despondent over the death of his mother.

The Resort 2011 collection was the first fashion industry collection by Alexander McQueen since his death. It was designed completely by Sarah Burton, McQueen’s replacement, who used to be the head of womenswear. The collection was warmly received by critics for its feminine lines that nonetheless remained in keeping with McQueen’s legacy and vision.
