Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne says that the clothing in her Abbey Dawn collection was designed to reflect her own fashion style. She also plans to launch a line of menswear, based on designs that would appeal to her brother Matt. The line is sold online and at US retailers Kohl’s and features stripes, plaid, polka dots, and skull prints. Of the design process, she says, “It’s a lot of fun. It’s another way to be creative.”
The upcoming menswear line will feature hoodies, tees, and caps in signature shades of red, black, white, and gray. “It’s for the guy who’s into brands like Metal Mulisha – just edgier,” she says. The Abbey Dawn website is scheduled to go live on Friday, December 12. By spring 2012, Lavigne hopes the brand will serve the fashion industry with a full juniors line.
