Actress Zooey Deschanel is suing footwear designer Steve Madden for $2 million over breach of contract. The actress, best known for the Will Ferrell movie Elf, was to have her likeness and name on a line of shoes and fashion accessories and was to put in 13 days of work doing photo shoots. She also had to promise not to work with other shoe companies.
Steve Madden has not responded, but rumors are that she was dropped because the company worried the line would not be lucrative enough. Deschanel has been quoted as describing her celebrity fashion style as “pretty, soft, feminine, and whimsical.” Deschanel isn’t totally out of work, however. In 2010 she was signed to be the face of Rimmel cosmetics.
