Maybe it’s a bit cliche, but the increasingly spring-ified weather has me looking forward to pretty festive pastels — and to avoid looking like a discarded Valentine, there’s definitely a method of doing it right and looking trendy, not dated. Bright petal pink gloss is pretty and springy without verging on costume-y or Grandma-inspired. Sure, it isn’t exactly the riskiest of shades, but a creamy opaque formula (rather than sheer, ultra-glossy, or shimmery) makes the color pop in a way that’s much bolder and more statement-making than just an enhanced take on your natural lip color. Plus, unlike many pastel shades, the color is soft enough to balance smoky eyes or other dramatic eye looks, but still eye-catching enough to make a statement on its own. Of course, due to its thick, opaque formula, be sure to prep lips with either a primer or even just your favorite lip balm to make sure the color applies smoothly and doesn’t settle into lip lines!
