Megan Fox and Michael Bay Disagree on Transformers Role

Posted on 03 July 2009 by Angelique

Megan Fox out at the David Letterman Show in New York City.

Megan Fox

Megan Fox, Hollywood’s current flavor of the week, does not see eye to eye with her director in the movies “Transformers” and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” She said to Entertainment Weekly that Bay relied “on special effects rather than the acting in the two “Transformers” films.”

Bay’s reaction? Grow up.

He has also said that “Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in ‘Transformers.’”

Fox is more of the opinion that her sexiness and looks are what got her started in 2007 in the original “Transformers” role, and that now she’s getting to do what she set out to do, which is to become an actress.

While Fox admits that movies like the “Transformers” franchise are aimed at young men, she has no trouble catering to their tastes. “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” opens with Fox as Mikaela, filmed from behind on a motorcycle in short shorts and boots.

Bay’s reasoning was, “We got that first shot out of the way, just to get it out for the young boys … and moved on.”

Fox says that the popularity of the first “Transformers” movie meant she could get parts that she otherwise couldn’t have. She is scheduled to star with Josh Brolin and John Malkovich in “Jonah Hex,” a sci-fi western, and she is also headlining “Jennifer’s Body,” which is a supernatural comedy written by Diablo Cody, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of the movie “Juno.”

Gwen Stefani Doubted her Ability

Posted on 03 July 2009 by Angelique

No Doubt performs in concert in West Palm Beach, Florida

Gwen Stefani

Pop star Gwen Stefani grew up thinking she had no brains, no talent, and would probably be a teenage mother. In a recent interview with Elle magazine, the 39-year-old says that she was very apprehensive about school work, particularly exams, and that she still is sometimes haunted by the fear of those exams.

She told Elle, “School was just really hard for me. I didn’t want to fail I wanted to be smart! But I was really dreaming, like drawing my boyfriend’s name on my notebooks.”

Once she began writing songs, however, her confidence improved. “I never had any kind of ambitions. I just thought I was going to have babies… When I found out that I could write songs, I felt like all of a sudden I’d found myself.”

Stefani recently got back together with the other former members of the band No Doubt and has faced rumors that she and the bandmates are having a tough time getting along together. While she said she had a “heated conversation” with her ex-boyfriend Tony Kanal (bassist for No Doubt) about No Doubt’s cover of the song “Stand and Deliver” by Adam and the Ants, she says that whatever tension there was has since disappeared.

Blake Lively Doth Protest Too Much

Blake Lively arriving on the Gossip Girl set in a dressing gown and Ugg Boots!

Blake Lively

California blonde and Gossip Girls queen bee Blake Lively insists she never wanted to be an actress. It just happened.

She recently sat down with the UK’s Independent and said that she really wanted to go to college at Stanford, but after her role in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in 2005, when she was a high school junior, the demand for her services simply never let up. She did, however finish high school and has not completely given up on the dream of going to college, although she says she “wouldn’t try to study anything to pursue a different profession,” according to The Independent.

Season two of the hit television show Gossip Girls is now in production, and during her time off between season one and season two, Lively filmed The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, which is based on a novel by writer/director Rebecca Miller, and also stars Keanu Reeves, Julianne Moore, Monica Bellucci, and Robin Wright Penn.

After saying that her acting role models include Annette Bening, Cate Blanchett, Reese Witherspoon, and Kate Winslet, Lively says, “Well, whatever I do, I try to do my best at it. There are things I feel like I’m good at but I don’t do those things enough. I’m a really great decorator and a good cook and yet I act.”

Vanessa Hudgens Pursuing Changes in Career

Posted on 02 July 2009 by Angelique

18th Annual MTV Movie Awards - Arrivals

Vanessa Hudgens

Like her High School Musical co-star Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens is getting out of the business of making musicals. Right now, she wants to focus on acting. She told MTV, “I love musicals, I really do. I grew up doing them, so it’ll always have a place in my heart. At the same time, it’s nice to be able to separate the two and just be able to focus on films.”

Vanessa is currently filming her first role that is not in a musical in the film Beastly, a retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast story that is set to open in 2010. Like Efron, Hudgens would like to distance herself from musicals to avoid being typecast and limiting her career.

So far that doesn’t appear to be a problem, as she recently took a role in the upcoming Zack Snyder film Sucker Punch. Snyder is famous as the director of the movie 300. Hudgens is thrilled to be able to work with Snyder, telling MTV, “It’s an honor, I’m such a big fan of his work.”

Sucker Punch is the story of a girl whose abusive stepfather institutionalizes her. To survive, she retreats into a fantasy world, where she eventually comes up with a plan of escape.

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds Skip the Shop Talk

Posted on 01 July 2009 by Angelique

Extreme Beauty In Vogue: Milan Fashion Week Womenswear A/W 2009

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson recently told Entertainment Weekly that she and her new husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, don’t discuss their careers when they’re chilling at home.

Johansson and Reynolds married in a private ceremony last fall, and they believe that by not bringing work home and chatting about movie making, they allow each other to simply be themselves. Said Reynolds, “We don’t have a lot of work talk around the house. We both prefer to just be ourselves at home. There’s no competition between us - we just don’t talk about it.”

They’re not the only famous filmmaking couple to leave the shop talk at work, director Sam Mendes, who directed his wife, actress Kate Winslet in the recent movie Revolutionary Road, says that when the two work together, they avoid bringing work home to keep some sanity in their home life, and because they’re basically too tired at the end of a long day on set.

However, when they are working on separate projects, they’re fine discussing it. Mendes said, “It can be really enjoyable because you’re hearing what’s going on on the set and what her problems might be tomorrow, and that’s really interesting.”
