The 81st Oscars Red Carpet! Award Season Ends With A True Night Of Hollywood Glamour!

Posted on 23 February 2009 by Jacqueline H

Well award season has finally come to end. And it could not have been more glamorous than Sunday nights 81st Oscars! The Red Carpet sizzled with the brightest stars in some of the most beautiful and timeless gowns yet! Join me as we reflect with this season’s 2009 Oscars Red carpet from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California!

Kate Winslet won for ‘Best Actress’ for The Reader. She looked all Hollywood glamour at the 81st Annual Academy Awards. From her hair, make-up and gown. Kate is not only raking the awards this season, she is also raking ‘best dressed’ on the Red Carpet. And for that my dear I crown you my favorite at the Oscars and for this year’s awards season!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie looked just fabulous on the Red Carpet! Our Hollywood sweet hearts and favorite couple surely looked sharpe and elegant individually, as well as together. Angelina in her gorgeous classic black gown. Also dazzled us with her emeralds which were truly divine. And Brad looked very dapper in his tuxe.

Newcomer Freida Pinto looked just beautiful in her electric blue Dior gown. She has come along way from the ‘Slum Dog’ backstreets of Bollywood. To Hollywood Red Carpet royalty. Slum Dog Millionaire swept most of the Oscars Sunday evening, including ‘Best Picture’.

Natalie Portman presented at the Oscars and looked stunning in this soft pink ensemble.

Beyonce Knowles took a very daring leap and wore this wonderfully brocaded gown in gold and black.

Robert Downey Jr. nominated as ‘Best Supporting Actor’ looked fantastic and sharpe with his wife on the Red Carpet.

The man of the evening Sean Penn won ‘Best Actor’ for Milk and shone brightly at the 81st Annual Academy Awards.

New York Fashion Week: Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 Collection

Posted on 18 February 2009 by Jacqueline H

Now we have to go ‘Haute Couture’ upon visiting fashion week. And my choice designer for that category is Marc Jacobs with his fall 2009 collection. To the large assembly of freezing paparazzi outside the Lexington Armory, the Marc Jacobs show kicked off with a portrayal of sculptured designs. And of course a lot of fashion composition and flare. But what are we seeing here? Fun 80’s fashion being revived? With a touch of color desperation? But wait a minute. Those colors do fair well, and bravo Marc for going all the way. I am enjoying the combinations of crushed purples, mixed with greens. Or those very bold gold and yellow numbers. But hey it works, especially for dressing the ‘young’ elite of Hollywood. This collection is bright and electric. And really what more do we expect from Marc? Then these over the top and daring designs. He really has never played it safe. But with such international recognition in the fashion world, we just could not over look this playful jester’s world.

New York Fashion Week: Monique Lhuillier Fall 2009 Collection

Posted on 16 February 2009 by Jacqueline H

I loved the Monique Lhuillier Fall 2009 collection. She channeled the “Modern Ballet Russe,” as she called it. The collection–shown in the Oak Room at the Plaza Hotel – which was chock-full of the glamorous eveningwear that Ms. Lhuillier is known for. Gorgeous, gorgeous gowns that reflected our modern era. With a futuristic touch. We are seeing a dab of every decade here influenced in the collection. From 1920’s Gatsby to 1950’s old school charm. Even a flare of Egyptian and Greek artistry, with the composition of flowing gowns. But nothing can beat the influence as I mentioned earlier with that ‘futuristic’ trend. The composition of different levels of fabrics and garments used is so apparent. So clean, and so very hip. And adds just a touch of chic, flare, and divine beauty in the gowns. Once again the colors are frequent in the creams, whites, grays, and purples. And of course ‘classic black’ dominates. Ms.Lhullier we applaud you with standing ovation for a superb and glamorous collection!

New York Fashion Week: BCBG Max Azria Fall 2009

Posted on 15 February 2009 by Jacqueline H

Bravo Max! I love this new fall 2009 collection. And I will tell you why. My predictions a few days ago were to see how designers have been affected by our current world economic events. And as you know, fashion is always a great prediction of how the ‘economic’ world is going to fare. Now I am no genie in the bottle and nether are the designers. But what I am seeing here is hope. Gorgeous gold’s, silvers, satins, and grays embrace the runway. Including creams and velvet crush blues, with lovely suede gray ankle boots. Now I say ‘hope’ because I predict an upturn in the ‘classic look’. With a lot of classic designs. Very chic indeed.
And what a great usage of gold. I am seeing a real trend here with the usage of bright metallic being incorporated in the outfit as a whole. Perfectly executed, as the gold portrays a real wonderful fashion trend that we will all being taking advantage of this year. Plus, my prediction of ‘gray’ was very apparent as well. I am really happy to see this color isn’t being overused. But truly being an accent, with the shoes, and a few key pieces. But what positive news in the fashion world! Great things lay ahead!

What does fall have in store? What will be the “it” color? Which outfits will dominate the couture lines?

What will the designers (characters) bring forward?

What will Calvin Klein, Donna Karen, BCBG and Carolina Herrera bring forward on the runway? And has the down turn in the economy inspired ‘grays’ to ‘longer skirts’? No more ‘minis’ maybe?

What will the social gathering harbor?
