So the first spring 2010 fashion trend starting to come out of hiding – camouflage prints.
Khaki and camo rock the military inspired clothing. … pants to military jackets to cargo pants, and camouflage print dresses. Even Converse runners.
But if you’re like me and not quite into jumping on this trend then take Balmain’s lead “patching together seventies M*A*S*H and early Versace chain-mailed goddess-dressing…from camouflage to sequined camouflage to patchworked gold-sequined camouflage without a flicker of irony or the slightest fear of treading on politically sensitive ground (Elle).”
I’m scared to see all the camo leggings that will likely appear, but I have to say this Kenzo dress is pretty fun.

The wedding season is fast approaching and brides to-be are on the search for the perfect dress, shoes and accessories. Some brides-to-be spend months searching for the perfect dress. Carrie Bradshaw’s entire wedding plan was thrown into a tailspin because of her over-the-top Vivienne Westwood dress. I was lucky – the second dress I tried on I chose and purchased on the spot. It was a “Saketini” gown made famous by San Francisco couturier, Colleen Quen. Today there are many options whether you are having a grand vineyard estate wedding in Napa Valley or a simple civil ceremony at City Hall. There are styles to suit everyonefrom the classic bride to the bohemian and fashionista alike.
Perfectly suited for a civil ceremony or glamourous penthouse affair, this fitted ivory ribbed-crepe dress is classic with a twist detail at the shoulder. The short sleeve RM by Roland Mouret Aphrodite twist-detail dress ($1,545 at Net-a-Porter) features a low back, a slim fitting skirt and split at the back. Most women either love or hate veils. If you are the type to wear a veil, Lanvin makes an exquisite glass pearl-embellished tulle veil ($1,070 at Net-a-Porter). Pricey, yes, but you can save it as a family heirloom for your daughters. The Blanche veil attaches with a silver-tone hair comb and is embellished with 100% Swarovski glass beads. Exquisite! With a the fitted and short skirt on the Mouret dress you’ll want to have a pair of very special shoes on your feet. How about these satin Christian Louboutin Miss ChaCha satin platform sling backs? They are available for $945.00 at Barneys New York. As you glidearound the dance floor or pose for photos, wouldn’t it be lovely to havethis Lanvin Silk-satin Drawstring Pochette ($770 at Net-a-Porter) on your arm? Grace your ears with a pair of Ben-Amun Crystal Framed Pearl Drop Earrings ($188 at Max and Chloe). These shimmering drop pearl earrings feature two lustrous pearls and are surrounded by Austrian crystals. Before you walk down the aisle spritz on Christian Dior’s Miss Dior Cherie Blooming Bouquet ($88.00 at YesStyle). Containing the essence of the original Miss Dior fragrance is has notes of mandarin orange, peony and musk, you will start life with your new husband smelling sublime.

The fall 2010 Tibi beauty look was all about being pretty, but in the innocent and unaware sort of way. The youthful and fun clothes were matched with the doll-like features hair and makeup achieved backstage. Makeup artist Wendy Rowe from Bobbi Brown created a fresh and glowing face with a 60s inspired cat eyes, pink cheeks, and a natural lip color. Light neutral taupe eyeshadows were applied along with a very thin application of eyeliner at the base of the lashes with a winged out cat eye. False eyelashes were applied at the outer corners of the lashes to make eyes look even wider. The secret weapon to the dewy glow is with the Opal Face Highlighter which won’t be out until the fall, but you can use their Tinted Eye Brightener for a similar effect. Hair stylists Kevin Ryan and Frank Rizzieri of Rsession Tools gave all the models tight ringlet curls and then separated them for a morning-after look. Set with a bit of hairspray, the hair moved and bounced down the runway. As for nails, Pattie Yankee of Dashing Diva mixed West Village (seen over at Halston) and Astor Place, a slate grey to create a unique shade of mushroom taupe.

This past Wednesday I had the pleasure of attending designer Abigail Lorick’s New York Fashion Week presentation for Fall 2010. You may have seen past Lorick collections which gained noteriety as Eleanor Waldorf’s label on Gossip Girl.
Housed in downstairs in the Union Ballroom, the descent down the stairs led to a dimly lit room where editors and press gathered to view Lorick’s confections inspired by angels in cocoons. The key to this collection is layering, layering and more layering. The pairing of lighter sheer fabrics layered underneath heavier fabrics (raw silk) gave a youthful feel to the dresses and separates making up the collection. The palette was definitely neutral, but still dramatic – taupes, black, and gold metallics accented with flashes of gray and green played throughout.
Overall the collection was very well executed with a youthful, creative and uptown energy. The styling consisted of eclectic accessories which added an additional layer of interest. Think modern day flapper chic – long brightly colored gloves in orange, green, and black. Ginormous feather headpieces, bows and hats graced the model’s wild untamed hair.
Ankle booties and wedge platform sandals were worn over glittery metallic semi-sheer tights, and black opaque tights giving gravity to the whimsical designs. Statement necklaces appeared as beaded collars and layered strands of baubles,
pearls and gold chains. Embellishment was added with accessories to the otherwise very clean cut silhouettes of the clothing. Hemlines were thigh high and exuded the charming youthful appeal.

While Zac Posen’s show last season was all about the playful neons, his Fall/Winter 2010 collection featured a much more fall-friendly (and noticeably grown-up) palette. His downplay of color allowed him to instead amp up the texture and structured details, featuring panels of soft suede, shiny satin pleats, and tiered fur. With a focus on signature short dresses (made cool-weather appropriate with tights), the collection boasted pieces that were carefully structured (some even with corset-style boning) but still had loads of movement; his series of floaty satin skirts seemed to sashay down the runway. While the collection mainly displayed an uncharacteristic amount of restraint on the designer’s part, the unexpected fur boots and smudgy black eye makeup helped to keep the show from looking too “pretty” or put-together.
Color Palette: cranberry, chocolate brown, saffron, black and gray
Celebs: Veronica Webb, Ellen von Unwerth, Patricia Field and Steven Kolb

My style usually wavers somewhere between ladylike and casual, but I rarely adhere completely to one over the other. Some days, that means yesterday’s hair, boyfriend jeans, and a swipe of red lipstick, only to be followed by an athletic tee over a silk dress and heels the next day. But when I saw the newest arrivals to Kate Spade’s clothing collection, all casual ideas went out the door and the lack of tweed and polka dots in my life became entirely too apparent. From candy-colored tweed jackets with bright pink piping to striped car coats and wool skirts, the latest offerings are undeniably classic, but with a youthful, carefree twist- as if Blair Waldorf, Glee’s Emma Pillsbury, and Holly Golightly curated the collection themselves (we can only dream.) The styling is as divine as the clothes themselves, with plenty of mixed prints, plus a hidden hoodie and pair of Converse for those who like to mix things up in a different way. Oh, and a pretzel too. Intrigued?

Ladies, only five more months until Sex and the City 2 is out in theatres.
What will Carrie Bradshaw be wearing? Let’s be honest, SATC2’s storyline is not the main reason we enjoy the movie series. We get a fashion high just by living vicariously through Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda.
Soon, you can get your hands on jewelry inspired by these sexy ladies. Yes, Dogeared is coming out with a SATC jewelry line. You can choose from either a gold or silver chain sex-and-the-city-jewelry-mg.jpg adorned with charms like a diamond, the Eiffel Tower, or stilettos. Each piece is accompanied by a famous quote from the show, like when Charlotte York said, “I’ve been dating since I was 15. I’m exhausted! Where is he?”
Prices range from $55 to $200. The line will be available this Spring at HBO.com and Dogeared.com. Please be fashionably patient!
