Alexa Chung H&M Leggings

Posted on 29 August 2009 by Haya

11

I just got back from New York and feel overwhelmed with all the styles, window displays, street fashion and just fabulous old shopping:)

I promised myself I would go around Spring Street and Prince Street, and have a little peek around Soho and the Lower East Side, but all my time was consumed with the company of friends, dining, dancing and conversations in a Park Avenue apartment terrace overlooking the city!

What I did remember to do though is that I promised you girls to get another Alexa Chung look, but I thought why not give it a different twist? So no pics of Alexa today instead let’s get a Chung inspired look!

It is easy to get and sexy to wear, my favourite garment of this fall the H&M sequince leggings, you can’t go wrong with them, this is the key for any look and then you can add a loose top in any colour you choose, or a cute dress, or even a buttoned up boyfriend shirt! Check out the ones I have selected from Urban Outfitters as well as their new Silence & Noise blazers,( by the way Silence & Noise is my new favourite brand at the moment, so you know what to expect from my next post!)

Going back to the look of today, check out these fantastic and colourful H&M party heels from their Party collection, or the Deena & Ozzy suede zip boot, both to accessories the leggings for a different look, your pick casual or party!
And last but surely not least the bag, here is a selection from H&M and Urban Outfitters where Deux Lux offers you a wide variety of their line, a little treat for us girls is these 4 sweet lipbalms that come in a delicious packaging of  Godiva lookalike box:)

Kate Moss Fall 09 Collection Available August 31st At TopShop.com

Posted on 27 August 2009 by Angelique

The Autumn Winter 2009 Kate Moss TopShop Collection launches August 31. With the new collaboration, Moss and TopShop emphasize vintage glamour and smart, grown-up pieces. But don’t worry: there’s still a rock’n'roll element to Kate Moss’s collection, influenced by the best of the 60s through the 80s.

Blouses and dresses in billowy chiffon are prominent:

Blue Beaded Collar Swing Dress

Strong prints are a common theme throughout the collection, including bright butterflies, pansies, feather prints, and faded vintage-looking floral designs.

Antique Sequin Bolero

Stud Vest

Simple jersey tops are given a biker chick finish whether adorned with studs, beads or chain details, whilst eveningwear has a antique dressing-up box feel. Tarnished gold sequins are scattered over a maxi dress, waistcoat, bolero and playsuit.

Butterfly Print Vest

The knitwear in the Autumn Winter 09 collection is anything but boring. Whether edgy or ladylike, these knits can channel the glam rock looks of the late 70s, or the mod, Mary Quant look from the swinging 1960s.

Navy Heart Boxy Cardigan

For those situations when you have to look tailored and in charge, this collection offers tailored jackets, trousers, and skirts. For evening, a slim black tux jacket with longer sleeves is sexy without being revealing when worn over a sparkly top. For daytime, a similar shaped jacket is available in a grey pinstripe with a matching skirt.

Black Grosgrain Blazer

Nothing says Autumn and Winter like suede and leather. And if they’re edgy like the dark blue floor length leather jacket in the TopShop 09 Autumn Winter Collection, they’ll get you plenty of the right kind of attention.

Navy Long Leather Coat

In just a few short days, the 2009 Autumn Winter Kate Moss TopShop Collection will be launched! Be a part of the excitement woven into this collection with its leather and suede pieces, stunning prints, and sophisticated shapes. Grown-up without being fussy or stuffy, this collection is sure to have dozens of pieces you’ll crave.

It’s On With Alexa Chung!

Posted on 04 August 2009 by Haya

The latest London craze taking over Manhattan (and the US, for that matter) is Alexa Chung, the multi-talented, bi-cultural beauty who is no longer reserving those long legs of hers for the runways – or the British airways. The model/television presenter/writer has just touched down from London-town: Just landed in the big apple.

Alexa is my new obsession at the moment, though I have to admit I was an avid watcher of her show Popworld, back in the day when I lived in London. Not only does she stand out with her natural beauty, her own fashion style, and an interesting cultural background.

This British born model, journalist and TV hostess, is the daughter of a Chinese father and British mother, which is the essence of her exotic and captivating look. She is quirky, smart and sharp and always knows how to get the best out of the celebrities she interviews by asking them awkward and funny questions.

In 2007, Chung came to the attention of the fashion press for her distinctive, quirky style. She frequently appears on Best Dressed Lists, in fashion magazines and on the front row of fashion shows. She socialises with many well-known faces but has said the idea of lots of celebrity friends is “so cheesy”. She has dismissed the notion of being an It girl, saying “there’s not much to being an It girl. It’s really quite a depressing title to hold”.

Here are some images I have collected for you to get to know her style, and definitely stay tuned for my next post where I will tell you where and how to get her look.

Agnyss Deyn Considered the Face of her Generation

Posted on 14 July 2009 by Angelique

Agnyss Deyn

Agnyss Deyn used to be named Laura Hollins and was a fish and chips waitress in Manchester, England. But then she won the Face of Rossendale modeling contest and things changed. She is now considered today’s face of our culture, according to no less an authority than The New York Times.

Now 26, Deyn was in 2007 named by Vogue as one of the world’s  next supermodels, and she has indeed appeared on the runways and in ads for Burberry, Hugo Boss, Reebok, and Armani. Photographers as prominent as Steven Meisel, who photographed her first Vogue cover in 2006, consider her to be the next Kate Moss. In other words, Deyn is an embodiment of cultural change that has come about partly as changes in politics and economics have forced people to rethink their lives. Last year, Glamour named her as someone “Who Will Change Your Style.”

Deyn doesn’t give much of a hint that she wants that particular honor, living as she does in the East Village, and pursuing other options, such as music. But her personal style, which appears to be borrowed directly from the early 1980s somehow looks fresh on her, rather than ridiculous. Or maybe it’s just that the culture at large is ready for something different, and Deyn indicates changes to come.

Runway Report: Prada Gets Colorful For Summer

Posted on 04 June 2009 by Jacqueline H

Prada is full of color for the summer season. With casual and straight lines, warm and bright colors. Prada is illuminating the runway with yellows, oranges and greens. But keeping it classic with the black sliced in. Great looks start simply -hence simple bright colors offer a really refreshing change to the down turn of grays that we were seeing. Surley the economy isn’t getting to Miuccia Prada, as her Resort collection sure does not reflect it. With her sharp contrasts her Summer shows, pretty draped-back dresses in camel color-blocked with pastels; cheeky scarf-print bikini briefs with ties at the hips, worn and neon-bright button-downs; and of course handbags which vouch as great eye candy in the form of little duffel bags in colorful florals that match the models’ ankle-tie sandals. The bow is a recurring motif, appearing at the neckline and elbows of an asymmetrically draped black top, at the hem of narrow underskirts, and at the back of float-y, vaguely 1920’s-ish wallpaper-print dresses. The cumulative effect looks very bright indeed. Call it Prada’s antidote for trying fashion times.
