Camilla Belle wears Alexander McQueen for Spring 2010

Posted on 09 November 2009 by Angelique

2012 Los Angeles Premiere

Camilla Belle

At the debut of the futuristic dystopian flick 2012, Camilla bravely donned an Alexander McQueen creation from his Spring 2010 collection, which premiered in Paris a few weeks ago. The entire Alexander McQueen collection featured a futuristic look and reptilian themed prints.

Belle’s dress was a short dress with a puff-ball skirt and gem trim on the sleeves. She wisely accessorized this attention-grabber of a dress with a minimal theme in mind. A simple, bangle, plain earrings, and nude platform heels ensured that accessories would not compete with the dress. It would be easy to overdo it with chains or diamonds or “look-at-me” shoes.

Also in attendance at the movie premiere was American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert. The soundtrack to the movie features his song “Time for Miracles.” Critics describe the song as “perfect” for the movie in which the world faces a huge cataclysmic event and those left have to fight for survival.

Written by Roland Emmerich and Harald Kloser, the movie’s cast includes John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Thandie Newton. Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover are also included in the cast of thousands. The film premiered November 4 in Los Angleles. This week it is scheduled for release in Belgium, France, and the UK.

Mally Roncal

October 29 marked the launch date of celebrity makeup artist  Mally Roncal’s new fragrance, Mally. This new exciting fragrance makes you feel Mally’s infectious warmth, love, happiness, and hopeful energy.

Mally Roncal, makeup artist to celebrities like Heidi Klum, is expanding the Mally Beauty collection into the world of fragrance with this modern floral citrus scent with a slight tropical note. The Sampaguita flower is the national flower of the Philippines, and its scent is similar to jasmine, yet slightly more tropical and exotic. The name translates to “I promise you,” and it symbolizes purity, strength, devotion, dedication, and fidelity.

Says Mally, “Beauty isn’t just about color cosmetics and covering up a blemish. I wanted to create a scent that embodies who I am ¦something fresh and feminine that makes you feel joyful and invigorated.” Other top notes in the fragrance include Mandarin, red currant, bamboo, and palm leaf. The middle notes are composed of freesia, jasmine, muguet, and peony, and underlying it all are the base notes of peach, coconut, sandalwood, and musk. Try Mally, makeup artist Mally Roncal’s new fragrance, and you’ll feel and smell as beautiful as you look.

“I received a sample from QVC and the scent will bring to mind adjectives like “sweet,” “fresh,” and “pretty.” In a beautifully designed bottle, Mally has top notes based on the Filipino Sampaguita flower, from Mally’s Philippine home.” Angelique Editor of Couture In The City

Trend Alert: Sequins

Posted on 02 November 2009 by Angelique

Sequins never totally go out of style, and why should they? A simple sequined piece can rock anything from a pair of ancient faded denim jeans to a formal skirt. These days, the best way to wear a sequins is to not do them head to toe. Otherwise you’ll look like you stepped right out of a 1980s prime time soap opera. It’s better to pair a sequined top with other pieces that are plain, or at least plain-ish. This includes sequined shoes, which can look amazing with a cute top and jeans.

Let’s start with these
Sequin Skirt Shorts from Topshop. If you have great legs, then this is a terrific look for you this fall. Topshop suggests wearing them with biker boots. They need to be paired with a simple top so as not to have your top half competing with your bottom half for attention. These are made from 97% Viscose, 3% Elastane. $70.00 from Topshop.
