Create Hairstyles seen at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards by Frederic Fekkai

Posted on 19 November 2009 by Angelique

Chateau Marmont
While the top designers in America were vying to win the 2009 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award, what really wowed the crowd were the two hair looks designed by celebrity stylist, Renato Campora for Frédéric Fekkai.

As the exclusive beauty partner for the event, the Fekkai team worked closely with Vogue and the 10 Designer Finalists to create two special hairstyles, the Wet Look and the Dry Look, to compliment each of the collections.

The trend: TEXTURE. It was clear that sleek and straight is out, and volume and structure is in. Both hairstyles tell a story through texture, and offer a modern take on two young, trendy looks: the twisted ponytail, and the airy, bohemian partial up-do. Additional details about these two looks are attached here and also below.

Look #1: The Wet Look
download-2-02-02-49

The first look is a sculptural and edgy ponytail. It’s modern, young and sexy. The texture tells a story through the wet and twisted hard hair. Pieces are left in front for an effortless feel, inspired by some of the graphic trends shown in the collections.

To achieve this look:

Use your hands as styling tools to create this piecey look.

Apply Fekkai COIFF(tm) Extra Control Styling Gel to damp hair and comb through with fingers, no blow dry required.

Pull hair into textured sections before twisting together into a low ponytail just above the nape of the neck.

Secure the twist with bobby pins, letting shorter pieces fall to the side.

Shape the hair into a long sleek ponytail.

Look #2: The Dry Look

The second look is a modern, angelic take on a tousled, bohemian style. It’s dramatic, yet romantic and very wearable. Hair is full and voluminous with an airy soft texture that allows for movement as you walk. Pieces are left in front to frame the face and accentuate the jewelry shown in the collections.

To achieve this look:

Apply Fekkai COIFF(tm) Strong Hold Mousse to damp hair and scrunch with fingers as you blow dry completely to create the wild texture.

Wrap hair in big sections around twist-ties (fabric curling rods) to create volume at the roots and soft curl for movement.

Tease hair at the roots using a fine comb, and apply Fekkai Au Naturel Powder Clean Dry Shampoo to add thickness and extra structure, but no weight.

Pin the sides to the back of the head and secure with bobby pins.

To secure height at the crown, finish with a fine mist of Fekkai Full Blown Volume Lifting Hairspray.

Hit the Deck is an easy and affordable way for working women and/or busy moms to stay healthy and fit!

PowerHouse Hit The Deck™ is an innovative fitness device for at home or on-the-go that tones the body while burning off stress hormones! The easy-to-use, cost-conscious product consists of a programmable interval timer and 30 cards divided into three categories: No Sweating, I’m Glistening and Sweating Buckets. And for $19.99 it is a real steal!

htdwarmupcards

Each category contains exercises that challenge all major muscle groups for a comprehensive total body strength-training and cardiovascular workout, using no equipment. The length of each workout is determined by how many cards are selected and timed using an interval timer. Founder Jenny Evans recommends beginning with 30-second intervals unless the user is new to intense physical activity.

Jenny Evans created PowerHouse Hit the Deck™ to make personal training more accessible to everyone, and to create an all-in-one portable fitness tool utilizing today’s technology. This ever-changing PowerHouse Hit The Deck™ workout provides the mind and body with endless variety, while challenging the heart and muscles in revitalizing ways. Performing physical activity four to six times per week promotes and helps to maintain a healthy lifestyle while eliminating stress.

Jenny continues, “It is my goal to make it simple to add exercise to your daily routine and to understand what an important role it plays in dealing with stress. I want people to know that you can set a realistic fitness goal and achieve it. Instead of asking people to adopt a new lifestyle in order to get in shape, I’m giving them an easy solution to let fitness become a part of their already existing lifestyle.”

Get That Celebrity Look! Sienna Miller Get’s Catty In G.I. Joe!

Posted on 07 August 2009 by Jacqueline H

sienna-miller-picture-6

She is fun, cute and very British! This rising star is promoting her latest action block buster hit – G.I. Joe – around the world! And with that comes lots of style and Red Carpet fashion!

So let’s take a look at what Sienna Miller can inspire us to wear!

The Infamous Cat Suit

untitled

OK, so maybe Sienna isn’t wearing this on the Red Carpet. But she is sure wearing it in her new flick! As the ‘Lady Baroness’ Sienna sports a very chic and techno clad black leather cat suit. Of course this is what super heroes are made of. But we can turn this into a classic cat suit fashion experience!

The Infamous Jumpsuit

OK, so we don’t want to be all clad in tight black leather. But we want something comfortable and fashionable for late summer. I have chosen a classically styled jumpsuit that will work just perfect!

_57226802

This jumpsuit is clean and sharp. And most certainly looks elegant despite the rumors that surround this little outfit in general. Match with a nice strappy sandal and you are good to go!

Before your know it, you a sporting a look that could be as good as any star out there today! So I am always on the lookout for that fashionable celebrity look for less! Yes it does not have to be expensive or exactly the same. As long as it shows a similar trend and technique, that is what counts! Now I chose Anne Hathaway looking quite dapper at her red carpet event. She was dressed to impress in this very cute gold Marchesa dress, where she made an appearance at the Shakespeare in the Park’s ‘Twelfth Night’ Premiere in New York City.
Now here is how I recreated that style!

Warren Tricomi worked with designer Douglas Hannant where Edward Tricomi created the hair for the Douglas Hannant Fall 2009 Show at New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Step #1: Prep hair by making it straight and sleek and part hair to create a bottom and a top.
Step #2: Take the lower portion of hair and slick back with hair spray to create a French twist.
Step #3: Next tease the upper portion of the hair with hairspray and create a bouffant and smooth over with a flat brush and hairspray.

Jennifer Hudson – Gorgeous and Confident at the Superbowl – Get the Look

Posted on 10 February 2009 by Angelique

Jennifer Hudson

The 2009 NFL Superbowl on Sunday, February 1st marked Jennifer Hudson’s comeback and she couldn’t have looked more gorgeous as she sang the Star Spangled Banner. Makeup Artist Sam Fine details below how to get a look that screams naturally confident.

“Jennifer is very trusting with her team and really allowed us to collaborate to bring a look that is fresh and new to her,” says Sam. “She was performing a classic song, so I gave her a classic look that would speak to the song she was performing.”

Get that Confident Glow
“On a field seen by millions of people, it’s important to have beautiful skin,” advises Sam. “I like to start with a perfect canvas – that is a priority.”

How to: Start by layering bronzer onto the cheek bones using Mac Mineralized Skin Finish in Brunette. Then, apply a vibrant blush on top to add a pop of color.

Create a Classic Eye

“I wanted to play up the gold buttons on her jacket,” says Sam. “So I used a golden brown eye shadow on the eyelid.”
How To: Apply a light brown eye shadow across the lid. Then use Avon’s Ultra Luxury Eye Liner in Black on the inside rim of the eye to add depth and definition.

“You can’t do a performance without false lashes,” states Sam. “They give the eyes sparkle in a naturally glamorous way.”

How To: Apply the false lashes and then fuse them with your own lashes using a great mascara like Avon’s SuperSHOCK Mascara.

Nude Lip is a Must
“I created a nude lip for Jennifer because I knew that a microphone would be in it’s way for the performance,” says Sam. “I didn’t want to call too much attention to the mouth.”
How To: Use a dark brown liner that is two shades darker than your lip color. Then add a nude to the middle of the lip – try Avon’s Ultra Color Rich Lipstick in Rose Mauve. Dab on a bit of gloss in the center to finish.

The overall look was natural, beautiful and confident. “Jennifer was so excited – I think her team was more nervous than she was,” admits Sam. “We knew how important this was to her. But she was so clam and focused, listening to the song throughout the session to perfect the timing.”
