Spring Trend: Floral Prints

Posted on 18 March 2010 by Angelique

Floral prints are always a welcome treat after the cold and slush of late winter, and this spring they’re very prominent. Here are a few floral ideas to get you thinking about the warm weather to come.

A bright floral dress is the perfect way to welcome springtime. This bright pink D&G Floral Print Stretch Cotton Dress is made in a cotton / elastane blend that has the comfort of cotton, plus a little “give” to move with you. It has an inset waist and a long zipper in back, so it’s form fitting without being tight. It would be perfect to wear to a spring wedding!

Where there are flowers there are often butterflies, and this adorable bracelet by Juicy Couture is the perfect spring accessory. It features a logo-stamped butterfly charm painted with a floral print. The bracelet itself is chunky chain link with a toggle closure. Great with the floral dress mentioned above or with jeans.

For a date with your sweetheart of a drive in the country, this Cardigan Jacket & Seamed Floral-Print Mini Skirt is just right. The cardigan is denim with gathered navy trim in satin and a shawl collar. A simple heather-gray tank is just right underneath. The skirt is a mostly blue floral print in a straight “pencil” style with banded waste.

seven floral jeans

These 7 For All Mankind “Roxanne”destroyed jeans have a floral print that shows up behind the distressing on these jeans for a casual, playful feel. These would be perfect with a fitted pink tee or a lacy white blouse.

Here’s a luxurious floral scarf made in a 50-50 wool-silk blend. It’s very soft, bright blue with a white floral print. It would make the perfect “belt” for the jeans mentioned above, or worn around the neck to set off a classic white tee.

With this pretty polyurethane floral printed wallet by Diesel, you’ll be reminded of spring every time you open your handbag. It has an all-over floral print, fold-over front, and several inner card pockets as well as a zip pocket for change.

Stella McCartney Debuts A Limited-Edition Solid Perfume Necklace

P254634_hero

Think: Classic STELLA in a modern necklace.

What it is: A fashionable take on fragrance. With the introduction of her limited-edition STELLA necklace, Stella McCartney lets you wear the cult favorite fragrance in more way than one. Tucked away in a round locket stamped with the Stella McCartney logo, the fragrance is always at your fingertips when you wear it around your neck.

The embellished necklace allows for a discreet dab of perfume at any moment-a sensual embodiment of STELLA’s inherent femininity and mystery. Just slyly slide open the charm to apply a hint of STELLA anytime, anywhere-the sensual scent goes wherever you do.

Inspired by a ripe rose on the verge of wilting, STELLA is a study in the contrast of strength and fragility, evoking the traditional femininity and sensuality of the rose with a dynamic, modern spirit. The head notes feature Rose Essence infused with Peony Flower and Mandarin Essence to form a harmony of seduction, delicacy and confidence. An intense heart of Rose Absolute leads to a carnal, sexy base of Amber that embraces the skin.

$49

Latest Obsession: Multi-strand Chain Necklaces

Posted on 12 February 2010 by Angelique

multi chain necklaces

You’ve probably noticed that jewelry this season isn’t shy. Big, chunky cocktail rings and necklaces full of details are on the hands and necks of fashionable women everywhere. With a little forethought, you can wear this trend with the best of them and confidently rock the statement jewelry.

Juicy Couture has a reputation for unabashed femininity, and their multi-strand chain necklace is a fine example. With touches in metal, fabric, and beading, it’s the kind of necklace that works great with weekend wear or on casual Fridays.

Newport News has a goldplated multi-chain mesh-covered beads accented with a mesh flower applique that shows a softer side of feminity. This would look beautiful against a fitted black top, and would be set off beautifully by wearing your hair in an updo.

The ASOS statement multi-chain and bead necklace is a very bold style that would work great with this season’s bomber jackets. With one jewelry piece this bold, it’s best to keep other jewelry simple and at a minimum.

Ben-Amun multi-chain necklace with purple enamel flower is the kind of special occasion jewelry you can see handing down to your daughter one day. A black velvet top, jeans, and black boots would set this lovely necklace off beautifully.

If you want to wear this trend, but are a little more reserved, then the ASOS long asymmetric multi-layer snake chain necklace is perfect for you. With its plaited detail, it captures attention more quietly, and goes with everything from jeans and a turtleneck to you best work dresses.

The Alice + Olivia long crystal chain necklace is a fun, young piece that says you love jewelry and you’re not afraid to show it. Like with most other statement jewelry, it’s a good idea to keep other jewelry simple when you’re wearing this necklace.

Statement jewelry adds a touch of brightness and levity to the cold winter season. Just don’t overdo it, or you’ll end up feeling like you’re wearing snow chains!

Valentine’s Day Baubles from Christine Mighion

Posted on 02 February 2010 by Angelique

Christine Mighion, jewelry designer from Indiana, realized her calling in jewelry design after taking a metalsmithing class at a local museum. Soon after, she started selling her jewelry at local galleries, designs that go beautifully with favorite old jeans and a tee, as well as with a dressed up look.

She is also dedicated to being socially and environmentally responsible, choosing suppliers associated with ethical and environmentally safe mining practices. She also supports national charitable organizations like the Ronald McDonald House, as well as arts organizations and environmental organizations.

All her pieces are made from recycled 14K gold and stones that have been responsibly mined. Prices range from under $100 to $670.

A perfect example of “goes with everything” beauty are her 14K Gold Lotus Petal and Tanzanie Hoop earrings. Each gold lotus petal features a dainty 2.5 mm tanzanite stone. The petals are all handmade from molten gold. The petals and hoops have been hammered to have a gorgeous matte satin finish for a beautiful, modern look. These would be at home with your everyday work clothes as well as your casual weekend pieces.

A perfect Valentine’s gift would be Christine Mighion’s 14K Gold Lotus Petal and Tanzanite Necklace. Beautifully coordinated with the earrings, this 18 inch, 14K gold ball chain features a 3 mm tanzanite stone on a gold lotus petal. Because each petal is made by hand, no two are alike. All lotus petals have a matte satin finish.

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, wouldn’t it be fabulous to receive this 14K Gold and Rhodolite Garnet Stacking Ring Set? Made from recycled 14K gold, one of the bands has on 3 mm garnet and the other band has one 3 mm garnet and another 2.5 mm garnet. Bands are 2 mm wide and have been hammered to a matte satin finish. You could wear this every day and it would never look out of place.

Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it, so it’s time to start dropping some hints!

Jewelry Obsession: Wrap Rings

Posted on 15 January 2010 by Angelique

Wrap Rings

Statement jewelry is big this winter. Women have put away their small, delicate chains and bracelets and brought out the pieces that people notice, and wrap rings are a perfect example of statement jewelry for the hand. These complex, eye-catching rings go the extra mile in decorating your fingers.

One perfect example is this silver metal wrap ring by Freedom at Topshop. With black enamel and crystal stone detailing, this ring looks dressy and confident, and goes great with your more serious work clothes, or with dressy outfits you’d wear on a date.

If you want a big variety of wrap rings to choose from, then Shopstyle.com has loads of them, like the Janna Conner gold large pear wire wrapped golden shadow Swarovski ring. In gold plate with a gorgeous caramel colored Swarovski crystal, you’ll wear this with jeans, with a suit, or out to dinner. The oversized ASOS Smooth Wrap-around Metal Ring has simpler design, but is just as stunning.

The Oasis Stone Wrap Look Ring is about as close as you can get to a little tiara for your hands. The swirled wrap style is very flattering to most hands, lengthening the fingers and giving a classy, elegant look.

If you’re loving your bomber jacket or studded boots this winter (and who wouldn’t?) you’ll find that this sterling silver dragon that slithers up your finger a striking addition to a slightly “tough-girl” look. Designed by John Hardy, this ring is for the woman who wants to make a statement of unapologetic up-to-the-minute style.

If you want to add a little star power to your accessories, this Blu Bijoux Star Ring is perfect. Made with shimmery Austrian crystals on silver plate, this fabulous ring is one that your friends will all wish they had first.

Cuff Your Wrist in Style

Posted on 13 January 2010 by Angelique

It isn’t just rings that go big this season, it’s bracelets too. It only makes sense that heavier clothing works better with heavier jewelry this winter. Cuff bracelets are accessorizing outfits everywhere, and lucky for us they exist in every possible price range.

66509_in_dl

Here’s proof that “substantial” doesn’t mean unfeminine. The Isharya 18-karat gold plated filigree cuff with cubic zirconia and freshwater pearls is a lovely filigree bracelet that can hold its own with the dressiest winter outfits you can put together. You’ll probably want to minimize other jewelry when you wear a piece this fabulous.

17646761_070_a

Another “statement” cuff is this hammered brass one by Subversive. It features a cluster of vintage charms and is adjustable to fit perfectly. Made from brass, faux pearls, vintage charms, and a vintage brooch, it measures 3.5 inches wide.

73317418-01

For the girl who likes the unexpected, here’s a slightly retro metal cuff that’s semi-adjustable. From Forever 21, it has a curvy, hourglass shape, and is dotted with a stippled design. It measures 3.75 inches in width and 6.25 inches in length and is available in silver or gold finish.

LDS12248

Another bold, feminine look is this wide black leather cuff with rhinestones from Lori’s Shoes. It’s seriously crusted in rhinestones so that it catches the light and sparkles. But it’s paired with no-nonsense black leather, giving it gravitas and proving you’re a grown-up. Glamorous, but edgy, it’s a great inexpensive splurge or a great Valentine’s Day gift.
