Steal this Style! Naomi Watts Maternity Style

Posted on 29 October 2008 by Wendy O

Naomi Watts (source)

Who says maternity style has to be boring? As a fellow mom, I have to appreciate Naomi’s stellar maternity style. Even though expectant mom’s are always told how beautiful we are (most of the time, we don’t feel like it!), Naomi truly glows. While most celebs have the benefit of lots of money and designer friends at their disposal, you don’t have to be an A-lister to score a celebrity maternity style look. Take some cues from free spirited Naomi and add these key pieces to your maternity wardrobe:

Scarves

If there is one great accessory to take the focus off of your growing belly, then it has to be a scarf. Timeless and inexpensive (if you know where to look), scarves will last you long after you’ve had your baby. Make like Naomi and add a punch of color to a black ensemble to bring attention to your face and away from your midsection.

Show Some Skin!

You may not feel so hot right now, but trust me; there’s one part of your body that you’re still going to want to flaunt. Whether it’s some exciting new decolletage (hello boobs!) or super shapely calves, make sure you play them up. Naomi shows off shapely legs tastefully by wearing a sweet long sleeve top to balance the look.

Great Shoes

Any pregnant woman will tell you that one of the most important parts of her wardrobe are her shoes. Cute flats and supportive sandals are staples, but a hot pair of ankle boots is the perfect way to add a trendy element to your wardrobe. Keep the heel low to get the most mileage out of them during your pregnancy.

Floaty Dresses

This was my #1 wardrobe staple during and after my pregnancy. You just can’t lose with a floaty dress because it will fit your ever-expanding shape no matter what size you are, and after will disguise any extra baby weight you may still be carrying. Naomi of course adds an avant-garde edge to her look by belting her dress under her bump, a look that I may venture to try the next time around.

So whether you just found out you are expecting or only have a few months to go, take these great maternity-style dressing cues from Naomi Watts to spice up your style. Your wardrobe will thank you!

Bra Fit 101: Bra Fit Horror Stories

Posted on 16 October 2008 by Wendy O

(source )

We all have one; a bra fit horror story sure to create embarrassing flashbacks of spillage, back fat and overflowing cleavage. A bra can be your best friend or your enemy, and it all depends on fit. But short of trying on every type of foundation in the lingerie store, how will you know what works best for you?

If you are constantly battling shoulder-digging straps, half-empty cups or flattened boobs, then you have to check out Macy’s Fit Matters guide. This online tutorial is designed to help women of every shape find the most comfortable and flattering bra for them. Their Perfecting Performance guide answers any question you could think of, and even helps you identify some you may not. For example, one of the suggestions is to see if you are wearing your bra correctly…it may sound silly, but an adjustment here or there may make a world of difference.

So we ask you…what’s your bra fit horror story? Overflowing cups in an ill-fitting bridesmaids dress? Straps always showing under your favorite tank top? Let us know your biggest bra blunder and check out Macy’s Fit Matters for ways to correct and perfect your bra wardrobe.

Add These Three Essentials To Your Wardrobe For The Fall

Posted on 16 October 2008 by Jacqueline H

It’s time to get serious about your fall wardrobe. Well not too serious. But here at Couture we like to invent new alternatives to our readers. And bring you great tips and ideas. Today we are featuring three essentials for you to choose from. Each adding a different feel and look to your daily routine. From a Hooded Parka to keep you warm for those winter months to come. To the functional Roger Vivier handbag, to keep the rain off. And of course keeping it cute and casual for the fall a Charlotte Ronson dress. Here’s a few of my favorite picks.

Hurley - Jamison Parka - $92.00

This Hurley Parka is as functional as it is affordable. It will for sure keep you warm, as well as save you at the bank.

Roger Vivier white patent calf large tote - $1,328.00

Now if you want to splurge a little on something designer. It may not be functional for your wallet, but it will sure keep the rain off.

Charlotte Ronson Lola Crochet Mini Dress - $198.00

Keep it nice and cute with a plain black dress. Nice to keep you warm, but casual for the office or at home. And for a affordable price, it’s well worth adding to your collection.

Bra Fit 101: A Bra for Every Ensemble

Posted on 15 October 2008 by Wendy O

You’ve seen it; a perfectly cute girl ruins a perfectly cute strapless dress with those clear plastic bra straps like we can’t see them or anything. Let’s face it, not everyone can go bra-less, and some ensembles require special foundations. For example:

One-shoulder Dresses and Tops:

Jones New York One-Shoulder Dress, $124

For one-shoulder looks try:

Calvin Klein “Perfectly Fit Solutions” 5-way Bra, $39

This bra can be worn 5 different ways (traditional, strapless, halter, cross back and of course, one shoulder) and will give you the perfect amount of support for a one-shoulder look.

Strapless:

Democracy Strapless Dress, $159

Satiny (re: shows everything) material plus a strapless look could equal trouble for the wearer of this hot little number. To make sure you don’t have a nip slip, try this strapless bra from Jezebel:

Jezebel “Caress” Seamless Strapless Bra, $27

Plunging Necklines:

Maggy London Silk Halter Dress, $148

You’ve got two obstacles here: a deep v and a halter neck. A traditional bra simply won’t work here.

Fashion Forms “Infinite Options” Bra, $30

This infinite options bra contours to a variety of styles to fit your needs. With multiple hook entry points, you can create halter, t-back and many more varieties (like shown above) to fit your look.

Don’t let an ample bust stop you from enjoying a plunging neckline…you just need to check out Fit Matters at Macy’s. This online tutorial offers a great way to find out what bra’s work best for you (from the comfort of your own computer) with video testimonials and how-to’s. See? Now you can tell those clear bra straps to take a hike.

Bra Fit 101: Comfort vs. Fashion

Posted on 14 October 2008 by Wendy O

Maidenform “One Fabulous Fit” Front Close Bra, $30

Is it possible to find a great fitting bra that looks great as well? Some say no, but Macy’s is out to prove the skeptics wrong. You don’t have to wear matronly brassieres to get the support you need, but you do need to shop around. You could shop at a trendy lingerie store to get something pretty, but lets face it…it may not fit the best. You could shop at a foundations store and get the perfect fitting bra, but it may look more practical than pretty. Or you could check out Macy’s and get the best of both worlds at a price tag that won’t hurt your wallet.

Macy’s carries brands like Maidenform that marry comfort and style to give you the level of support you need without looking like a strapped-in mummy. It is possible to find feminine details and eye-catching colors in a bra without having to spend a fortune. Whether you go into your local Macy’s and get fitted or just check out their online tutorials, Macy’s can help you find the best bra’s for your body.

Right now Macy’s is hosting their “Fit Matters” event, where you can save a ton on the foundations that keep you looking good. You can get buy two, get one free deals and even free shipping on orders of $60 or more. Check out Macy’s Lingerie to see what they have in your size and style and trust us…go for the lace.

Be Red Carpet Ready And Get The Angelina Jolie Look - For Less!

Posted on 10 October 2008 by Jacqueline H

Angelina Jolie in Manhattan - October 4th 2008

This A-List Actress is one of the most famous women on the planet! Not only is she known for her very successful movies. But we have watched her transform from her bad girl image with ex-Billy Bob. To a graceful worldly mother and global activist. Next to her new hubby and father of her children - Brad Pitt. Even though not officially married, they make a great couple yet.

Looking dashing in a beautiful satin trench coat

The “Changeling” star lights up the film’s New York premiere in a custom black Versace strapless dress and Mikimoto pearls. You can get this look too! And for less! Here’s how. First let’s pick that distinctive dress. It has a beautiful off the shoulder cut, and a satin finish. I have picked three dresses from one of my favorite stores - Forever 21.

Basic Strapless Knit Dress -$22.80

A simple basic knit strapless dress with a fully padded bust, opaque lining, and a hidden back zipper closure. Gorgeous!

Deidre Strapless Dress -$22.80

A strapless figure-hugging short length dress constructed of gleaming satin and featuring a corset top with boning in the front. Feel like Angelina yet!

Bustier Tube Dress - $22.80

This sexy tube dress cuts a svelte figure with its satin upper and stretchy woven lower section. The bustier-style bust features lightly padded cups, while the skirted portion has side pockets, a back slit, and an included belt. This is great if you want to jazz it up a little, and add some contrast to your outfit. While still achieving the same look as Angelina. Now how about that trench coat? Here are two of my choices from Forever 21.

Belicia DB Coat - $44.80

Wool Blend Trench Coat -$34.80

An elegant single-breasted button front trench peacoat featuring a wool-blend construction. And an included matching belt.

Pearlescent Bead Earrings -$2.80

Fake those Mikimoto pearls with these three pairs of pearlescent beaded earrings featuring studs and half circle designs.

What’s great about all these style choices is that you are getting a great designer look - without the designer cost. Let us know what you think of the Angelina Jolie look!
