For many of us, high-waisted jeans cause either unpleasant flashbacks to 20 years ago or a primal fear of being caught in public wearing “Mom Jeans.” However, this style does appear to be making a comeback of sorts. They’ve been spotted on Ashley Greene, Anne Hathaway, and Katie Holmes among others. Usually they’re paired with a simple fitted tee, tank, or button-down blouse.
If you want to try this trend, keep proportions in mind. Curvier figures look better with a boot-cut leg, while straighter figures generally look better in straight leg styles. And fit is incredibly important too. Many of today’s high-waisted jeans don’t come up quite as high as their ancestors. Just below the navel is the general height of the waistband of these jeans.
You’ll want to make sure that the rest of your outfit is more modernized to avoid looking as if you’ve been living in a cave since 1990, and you definitely want to check out your look from all angles before purchasing because even high-waisted jeans that look great from the front can look like the dreaded Mom Jeans from the back.
What’s your opinion? Will you try high-waisted jeans this winter?
