Elise Øverland is an up-and-coming Norwegian designer who has already had some famous design gigs. While she was still a student, she was picked by Steven Tyler to create costumes for Aerosmith. Her style, as you might guess from her rock-and-roll fan base is edgy and sexy. She also takes inspiration from her youth, when she wanted to become a professional skier in Norway. Therefore her looks are not only edgy and sexy, but the kind of designs you can move around in as well! Here are some of the highlights from her Spring 2011 Ready to Wear collection.
First up is a simple cream dress that would make Mary Quant proud. With a high collar and long sleeves, it starts demure, but ends scandalously short and the overall effect is very sexy without trying too hard. She paired it with short boots, but put together with a pair of over-the-knee black patent boots, it could well be the sexiest outfit ever!
A billowy, chartreuse shirtwaist dress with sectioned sleeves is another winner in Øverland’s collection. The sectioned sleeves and piping at the waist keep the look from being “just another boring shirtwaist dress.” And if you don’t think you can wear chartreuse, give it a try. It’s more wearable than you think.
Øverland’s olive cropped silk pantsuit with matching scarf and black hat makes for a sexy, elongated silhouette. Though you’d probably want to lose the cap for work, the rest of the outfit goes anywhere. I’m imagining it paired with a pair of decadent ruby red high heels …
Finally, you’ll definitely see some of Øverland’s ski influence in her black leather cropped jumpsuit over a flowing white blouse. It’s yet another very sexy look that’s slightly sporty, and that you can move around in. This is one black leather jumpsuit you definitely will not associate with Elvis impersonators in Las Vegas! Paired with black heels (as in the show) or black boots, it’s divine.
