Fashion Designer Lacoste’s New Shirt

0 Comments 29 June 2010

GET SHIRTY: Taking the art of the polo to a new zenith, Lacoste hosted a party Friday night in Paris’ Musée des Arts et Métiers to unveil a porcelain shirt by Chinese artist Li Xiaofeng, along with a limited-edition version of the brand’s iconic L.12.12 shirt he designed for the holidays.

For the ceramic piece that will go on display in Li’s first solo show, organized by Bejing’s Red Gate Gallery this fall, he crafted porcelain bowls decorated with Chinese motifs and Lacoste iconography, smashed them into shards and arranged them into a shirt shape.

Meanwhile, the print for the men’s and the women’s polo shirts (20,000 of which will be sold starting in October in Barneys New York, select Lacoste boutiques and on Lacoste.com) is reminiscent of ceramic pieces dating from the Kangxi Period and the Qing Dynasty.
