The Grammy Awards is probably the most adventurous of the major winter awards shows, and most fashion watchers expect some degree of fashion rebellion among the attendees. Last night’s performance was no exception, though there were some examples of classic Hollywood style among the guests.
Teen sensation Justin Bieber looked the part of the perfect heartthrob in his white tux with black tie, accompanied by white high-top shoes.
Selena Gomez was every inch the dark-haired bombshell in her silver and gold dress by J. Mendel, while Drake went with the all-black tuxedo and pulled the look off flawlessly.
A radiant Selma Blair looked like a goddess in midnight blue Lanvin, while Jennifer Lopez rocked the red carpet in a hot micro-mini number by Emilio Pucci.
At the Grammys, everyone expects a few “Whoa!” moments from the red carpet, and Sunday’s ceremony did not disappoint, with perhaps the most memorable outfit being the see-through number with a series of strategically placed ruffles worn by Rihanna.
Lady Gaga arrived on the red carpet in a giant, translucent egg carried aloft by a team of handlers.
Reality star Snooki wore a short, tight, sparkly dress with massive, pouffy shoulders.
Adam Lambert looked like, well, Adam Lambert, reincarnated with big 80s new wave hair.
All in all, it was a red carpet that lived up to the Grammy Awards reputation as a bright, bawdy succotash of styles from the elegant to the ridiculous.
