Holiday 2010: Prada Gets Personal

0 Comments 20 December 2010

Just when you thought nothing more could be done to revolutionize sunglasses, Prada steps in with an exciting new concept: personalized sunglasses, available in a men’s and a women’s style under the label PradaPrivate. They’ll be sold at Sunglass Hut stores in the U.S. beginning December 5 and let you transform a fabulous pair of Prada glasses into a unique gift.

Each pair has two removable plaques on each temple, with the original glasses bearing a “P” and an “R.” But you can remove these and substitute a variety of symbols to totally customize them, and they can be re-customized over and over, maintaining their classic Prada styling while being continuously renewable.

To customize the plaques, you have your choice of letters, numbers, hearts, skulls, stars, and other symbols. The arms are removable, and you plug in two symbol insert plaques into each arm. You could use the recipient’s initials, or a personal letter, number, or symbol combination that has personal meaning.

There are three color for the frames: black, white, and tortoiseshell. You can buy the inserts individually, or you can buy a set with all of them. In addition to the Sunglass Hut stores, you can get these glasses from Prada boutiques in Milano, Roma, Venezia, London, Paris, New York, LasVegas, Hawaii, Dusseldorf, Aoyama, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
