Hot Spring/Summer Shoes

1 Comment 16 April 2012

It’s time to pack away the boots and dig out our spring shoes, but before you slip on those trusty ballerina flats from last season what’s new and on-trend for 2012? Let’s take a look at the three top, women’s shoes trends for spring/summer…

Wedge High Tops

The perfect transitional shoe to take us from the cool spring weather into the warmer summer months. Wedge high top sneakers are an extension of the sport-luxe trend, which has seen designers’ put a feminine twist on everything from racer back dresses to parkas and even sports inspired accessories. Opt for wedge high tops in pastel tones (another hot trend for spring/summer!) or greys, and pair them with skinny jeans and a slouchy tee for laid back cool.  Swap the jeans for cut of denim shorts when the weather warms up, for an effortless, thrown-together vibe.

Block Heels

These shoes have been popular since last season, but they’ve been given an eye-catching style update. Look for unusual shaped, chunky heels or ones made from unusual materials such as Perspex in varying colors. You can even tap into the neon trend with neon pink Perspex. The heel is the standout feature of women’s shoes this season. And it’s still a relief that we’re not expected to teeter around on pencil thin heels!

Flatforms

There’s always one style of women’s shoes that divides opinion, and this season is no different. Flatforms are available in every style imaginable, from androgynous brogues to girly, floral printed sandals. They are incredibly practical to walk in, as the heel is barely higher than the platform sole. But they are a shoe to impress the girls; these shoes may raise a few confused questions from men! What to wear these with will depend on the style you go for, but if all else fails keep it feminine and wear these with miniskirts or shorts.

So those are the top trends to look out for this spring/summer. Which ones will you be trying?
