Jessica Alba has made up with the police department of Oklahoma City after nearly being charged with vandalism there. No, she wasn’t tagging with a can of spray paint, but putting up posters throughout the city in order to bring attention to the plight of the endangered great white shark. Police announced that she won’t face charges, and that the case is now closed. As a goodwill gesture, Alba sent a check to the local United Way for an undisclosed amount between $500 and $9,999. She was recently in Oklahoma City for filming of the movie The Killer Inside Me.
Meanwhile, MTV News has announced that Alba, who has played comic book characters in the movies Sin City and Fantastic Four, has acquired screen rights to The Insiders, a French comic book series. The story, gathered from a number of French language websites, is also that Sin City director Robert Rodriguez is Alba’s partner in getting the screen rights.
The Insiders came out in 2002, written and illustrated by Jean-Claude Bartoll and Renaud Garreta. There are seven volumes published so far, with the eighth scheduled for release in October 2009. Also in October, the first volume of The Insiders, titled “Chechen Guerilla” is scheduled for release in America.
