Katy Perry’s debut fragrance “Purr” has been surrounded by plenty of hype, by both excited and skeptical fashionistas alike. Now that the perfume has launched at Nordstrom stores and online, beauty mavens are satisfying their curiosity for the singer’s signature scent and its feline-inspired branding. Given Katy Perry’s onstage affinity for anything wild, kitschy, and coquettish, yet her remarkable knack for also looking sophisticated and polished when the occasion calls for it, the idea of her perfume begged the question — where exactly on the wide Katy style spectrum would it lie? The answer? Somewhere in the middle… which, if it’s half as successful as her latest album, sounds like it may be a winning happy medium.
Luckily the scent itself is not quite so literal as its bottle (no notes of catnip to be detected!), with playful aromas of peach nectar and apple, as well as jasmine, Bulgarian rose, vanilla orchid, and accents of musk and sandalwood. Sounds like the potentially purrfect mix of carefree and sophisticated, just like Katy herself. What say you — does Katy’s new fragrance make you Purr?
