Giorgio Armani was in the spotlight in recent celebrity fashion news. At the Jonah Hex premiere in LA a couple of weeks ago, Megan Fox wore a custom Armani Privé dress in a bright (dare I say Valentino-esque?) red along with fashion accessories including black Brian Atwood platform shoes and a python clutch by Ferragamo along with black diamond Neil Lane jewelry.
The only tattoos on display were on her ankle, but there was plenty of other stuff on display, as the dress had a plunging neckline and a hemline a few inches above the knee. The long sleeves and structured shoulders were in keeping with recent fashion trends, and many of Armani’s other recent designs for the Privé line, as was the curved wrap style of the skirt.
This is no question a gorgeous dress, and Fox is, no question, a gorgeous young woman, but can you put the two together and end up with less than the sum of the parts? Apparently yes. While a hippy, buxom woman like Jennifer Hudson, for example, wouldn’t look right in this dress, Fox doesn’t quite look right in it either. Her body needs softer lines to complement the rather severe lines of the dress.
Actually, another guest at the Jonah Hex premiere, star Josh Brolin’s wife Diane Lane, probably would have looked better in the red Armani dress, with her softer, yet no less sexy, figure and more mature fashion style.
Of course I’d be lying if I said that Fox didn’t look stunning. It’s probably impossible for her not to look stunning. But this gorgeous dress just wasn’t quite right for a woman of her age and general look.
