New Zealand based designer Alexandra Owen brings us six takes on the little black dress, just in time for Valentine’s Day. These six glorious confections give women with all different figures great choices in the iconic LBD, and all of them are sophisticated, with an edge. You could just as easily imagine the cast of Mad Men wearing them as you could imagine yourself wearing them into the perfect little romantic restaurant on a special date night.
The Bombshell Dress is long and flowing, yet non-bulky, with a graceful halter neck and asymmetric hem. One style is worn on its own, the other over a sheer black under-layer for two different, but equally sexy looks. The Pima dress is available with or without sleeves, in a gorgeous black brocade with a flared, deep-pleated skirt. And the best part is, you don’t have to have it dry-cleaned: all six designs are either machine or hand washable!
The Linear Dress is also available with or without sleeves. It is form fitting without being tight, and has a lovely cut-out collar. Both versions are very Audrey Hepburn. The Cape Dress, sleeveless or long-sleeved, has a cape-like collar overlay that falls to a short sleeve length. It’s perfect for showing off beautiful shoulders, whether worn in the sleeveless or long-sleeved version.
The collection retails from $500 to $700.
