Emmy’s Best Dressed Moments!

Posted on 22 September 2008 by Angelique

It’s Emmy time! Did your fave T.V. celebs win? Great! Now to the important stuff…who wore what best of course. If you missed the Emmy’s red carpet, don’t worry, we’ve filtered out the best of the best so you don’t have to!

Like with all red carpet events, there seemed to be a few underlying themes, so we are going to break down our best Emmy’s Best Dressed moments for you. Tiered dresses, classic black dresses and diaphanous gowns ruled the red carpet, with the usual list of suspects on our best dressed list. Check out our picks to see if your fave celebs make the cut:

Tiered Dresses:

Brooke Shields in Badgley Mischka

Not too flouncy, precious or skimpy…Brooke Shields manages to marry fierce and feminine in this gorgeous Badgley Mischka gown. Minimal accessories and natural makeup and hair make her look easily one of my favorites of the night.

Black Dresses:

America Ferrera in vintage

Debra Messing in Monique Lhuillier

I don’t know which one I like more; America’s ruched vintage dress or Debra’s frothy tulle number from Monique Lhuillier. All I know is that these ladies better hold on to these dresses because they are gorgeous and timeless. You can pull these dresses out again in 10, 20, 30 years and they will still look fabulous. Again, they took the minimal road in accessories and hair to create a glowing and natural red carpet look.

Diaphanous:

Christina Applegate in Reem Acra

Mariska Hargitay in Carolina Herrera

Christina and Mariska looked every bit the television goddesses that they are in these one-shouldered gowns. Oddly, they both chose colors that read more spring than fall, but somehow, their dresses work. It was extra special to see Applegate out there and rockin’ it once again after her recent bout with breast cancer.

Best Dressed:

Heidi Klum in Armani (source)

What, like you are surprised? Heidi has been seriously ruling the red carpet as of late, and this Armani number simply stuns. She looks like a mermaid disco queen and I love love love it.

Thanks for checking out our Emmy’s Best Dressed coverage…let us know what you think of your favorite celeb’s red carpet ensembles!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week NY: CAROLINA HERRERA Spring 2009

Posted on 12 September 2008 by Jacqueline H

New York - We can’t do fashion week without covering one of the most classic designers – Carolina Herrera. Her gorgeous gowns fully flowed with bright spring colors in full bloom. Showing off in reds, yellows, blues and greys.

The collection – colorful in nature. Is purely inspired by the flower blossoms of the season. Although all the gowns are somewhat uniform in design. There is only one thing that separates them from each other – color. We see bold reds, yellows, and blues, streaming in unison down the runway.

Each particular gown, uniquely defined with a different cut. A slight delicate ruffle here. An off the shoulder piece there. The gowns have the perfect movie star inspired theme. And I am quite sure that we will see many A-Listing actresses wearing her 2009 collection to the Oscars. But with the new wave, comes the old wave. The collection also deeply inspires from the Greek mysticism. Especially with the off the shoulder cuts, and the full flowing nature of the gowns.

But somehow, it all just ties together like a perfect bouquet. Then things jazz up a little with the greys. Almost adding an exotic touch to the collection. It’s like putting an orchard amongst the roses. But it works. We finish the collection with whites, to wash out all the purity in the color. Finishing the collection with pure elegance.
