R&B singer Rihanna and her allegedly violent boyfriend Chris Brown have been apart from each other in recent days, but a source told Us Weekly that the two have not broken up. “They are taking a break,” the source said.

The break comes after a late February reconciliation between the two after Brown allegedly assaulted Rihanna after a pre-Grammy Award party. He is to be arraigned on two felony charges April 6 after being accused of punching her in the face, and biting her finger and ear. The case has drawn widespread attention, not only to Rihanna and Brown, but also to the subject of domestic violence.

While Rihanna’s mother and friends are urging her to break up with Brown, the singer is determined to rehabilitate his public image. She is convinced that he has learned his lesson and is ready to change. She recently punctuated her support for Brown by recently recording a “very, very emotional” duet with Brown.
