Hit or Miss? 67th Annual 2010 Golden Globes Red Carpet Looks

Kate Hudson wore a white gown by Marchesa with white platform shoes. The cut of the dress adds some curvature to her slight figure. The upswept hair and minimal jewelry that included gorgeous tassel earrings and a cuff bracelet make this look a definite hit. In fact, I thought the dress would make a great bridal gown for an avant garde 2010 bride.

Leona Lewis wore a jewel-colored strapless dress by Roberto Cavalli. Though the dress is made to emphasize her hourglass figure, the bodice is cut in a way that detracts from the overall look. Like Hudson, she kept the jewelry to a minimum, which was probably a good choice. But this look is a miss – just barely.

Fergie wore a stunning blue Elie Saab gown with a jeweled cummerbund and layered long skirt. This gown is gorgeous enough that Fergie made a wise decision in her only accessory being husband Josh Duhamel, but it would have looked even more beautiful if she had worn her hair up.

Cameron Diaz wore a red confection from Alexander McQueen. While Diaz definitely has the slender figure necessary to look good in shiny fabric, the 80s cut of the dress plus the pulled-back hair, plus the lack of jewelry (a diamond pendant would have been lovely with this) makes it just miss being a hit.

Julia Roberts looked beautiful in her cocktail length Yves St. Laurent dress accented with what is either a statement necklace, or part of the dress itself in gold that gives what would be a rather boring dress a bit of a bohemian vibe perfectly suitable for Roberts. It’s a great look, just not for an occasion this formal. Had this been a long version of the same dress, it probably would be a hit.

Kate Winslet wowed in a one-shoulder beauty by Yves St. Laurent. The straight-across neckline with jeweled detailing down the right side of the bodice is exactly the kind of dress that a figure like Winslet’s looks great in. The upswept hair shows off the one-shoulder design to its best advantage.

Chloe Sevigny wore ruffled lilac Valentino and like many of the other women at the Golden Globes, went understated with the jewelry. This could have been a hit had she gone with less severe hair, or had she kept the hair and gone with a sleeker dress.

Drew Barrymore chose a nude color gown by Atelier Versace, which was a great color for her. But the dress had two strange outpouchings – one on the left shoulder and the other on the right hip, and the cut of the dress didn’t show off her fabulous figure. A lack of weird add-ons and a differently cut bodice could have made this a hit.

Maggie Gyllenhaal chose a lovely peach sorbet color, but unfortunately, it was on a gown by RM Roland Mouret that had way too much going on: a complex one-shoulder design, a series of layers radiating out from the right side of the waist, a pieced skirt, and a mermaid hem from the knees down. Gyllenhaal has a slender figure that looks great in just about anything, which  means that probably nobody could have looked good in this dress.

Jennifer Aniston wore a black Valentino gown in a one-shoulder design with a daring thigh-high slit. Worn with strappy, high heeled sandals, the outfit is gorgeous enough that Aniston can be forgiven for not doing something a little more polished with her hair. It’s a hit.

Christina Aguilera wore a long peach dress by Versace that showed off her figure beautifully and didn’t get as overly daring as some Versace numbers tend to do. It’s a hit, but it would be even more of a hit had she not gone with the soccer mom bob hairstyle.

Get Fit Celebrtity-Style with the Baby Jogger Summit 360

Posted on 05 November 2008 by Angelique

Salma and baby Valentina take a stroll using City Mini

It’s only November, but now is truly the time to start thinking about your New Year’s resolutions for 2009 (that year went by quick, huh?) Chances are that many of you out there are just like me; young mom’s that have little (or no) time to themselves. But we still want to be able to take care of ourselves by working out, eating right and stealing off to get our toes done now and then, right?

When I was staying home with my little boy (now 2-1/2), it was nearly impossible to take time out for myself. I was overweight (okay, technically I was obese) and wanted to do something about it, so I started jogging with my son. It took me a year and a half, but I lost 60 pounds and went from a size 22 to a size 12 in pants. Now I’m expecting my second baby and you can be sure that I’ll be investing in a double jogger to help me get back in shape.

Still not sure if this is the answer for you? Then you have to check out the Baby Jogger Summit 360. For less than the cost of a years’ membership at a gym, you can get a quality stroller (not just for jogging, you know, I used mine everywhere) that will really get you out there. This is the only jogger on the market that has an all wheel suspension system that automatically tracks itself for the smoothest, safest ride for your child. From the mall to the city park, this stroller will get you and your little one going with ease.

Baby Jogger Summit 360 $399.00

Celebs like Julia Roberts and many more are fans of the Baby Jogger (of course, Julia probably has the double or triple model). While they probably also have trainers, dietitians and life coaches to help them reach their fitness goals, you can be your guru with a paved path, clear skies, and a quality jogging stroller. Whether you want to finally lose that last little bit of baby weight, or just want a great way for you and your little one to connect outdoors, then get out of the gym and treat yourself to a Summit 360.
