The latest season of The Hills started up on Tuesday night without its original star Lauren Conrad. But she’s far from unemployed. Variety just announced that the executive producers of the Twilight series of movies has acquired the rights to her novel L.A. Candy. The book is about a 19-year-old who moves to Hollywood and becomes famous through the medium of reality television. It spent 14 weeks on the New York Times best seller list. Conrad herself contacted Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, producers of the Twilight films, with an idea for adapting her book. They bit.

Said Bowen to Variety, “We loved her take. Her book is an honest portrayal of what it must be like to set out to be normal, then sign on to become famous and eventually realize, wow, this isn’t at all what I’d planned for myself.” For this, Conrad will get executive producer credit for the movie.

Conrad has already signed a three-book deal with publishing giant Harper Collins and plans to write more about Jane Roberts, the main character in L.A. Candy. It is as yet unknown who will write the screenplay for the movie. Conrad also recently launched a line of L.A. style clothing for Kohl’s stores.

Conceal wider hips with a longer-length tee or tunic that skims your mid-section.

Opt for patterned or embellished tops to divert attention away from fuller hips and thighs.

Make legs look longer and leaner with simple, solid-hue trousers and dark-wash jeans.

Add width to your shoulders (and balance your bottom half) with soft flutter sleeves.

Flaunt long legs and shapely ankles with slim-fitting cigarette pants and capris.

Balance a thicker middle by highlighting arms with a halter top or strappy dress.

Consider an Empire-waist dress, which gives your torso a more elongated appearance.

Choose flowy, hip-skimming tops to camouflage a fuller tummy without adding bulk.

Draw attention to your lower body with eye-catching heels.

Create a more feminine silhouette by teaming a voluminous top with a more fitted bottom half.

Cheat a waistline by cinching a belt in a contrasting color over a narrow sheath dress.

Keep accessories in proportion; delicate bags and necklaces won’t overwhelm a small frame.

Hem your pants on the longer side and pair them with sky-high platforms to add inches.

Amplify curves with tops that have texture, like a ruffled neckline or ruching at the waist.

Lauren Conrad wanted to extend her 15 minutes of fame beyond her MTV reality show “The Hills,” and with her novel for teens topping the New York Times best-seller list (for children’s chapter books), she’s doing just that.

The book is about a young woman living in L.A. who is discovered and given her own reality show. Sound familiar? Anyway, for two weeks running, Conrad’s book L.A. Candy has headed the NYT list. Conrad will at least admit that her personal experiences informed the novel, though she insists that all the situations portrayed in the book were made up.

She recently dished with the Associated Press (Canada) about the book, the show, and other things.

Conrad says that even after a few years of reality television fame on her resume, she’s still surprised by how she has been able to do so much at such a young age. She told the AP she feels “lucky that I got to do so much for just being me.” She also says that Lauren Bosworth from “The Hills” is still her roommate and she still keeps in touch with Whitney Port and Stephanie Pratt and that she now wants to be a producer.

Lauren Conrad, famous for being on reality television, recently told Access Hollywood that she is more interested in fashion than she is in having a voluptuous figure. Conrad, 23, told Access Hollywood, “I prefer a flatter-chested look. That’s just kind of me. I think it’s more of a fashion look. If you look at a lot of high-fashion models and things like that, they’re always you know, a little flatter. I like the way clothes fit better.”

She doesn’t, however, rule out the possibility of some minimally invasive facial editing as she gets older. At a recent release party for her novel L.A. Candy, she said, referring to Botox, “I’m 23, I think I’m good for a little bit. I don’t know, maybe later on.”

When it comes to her novel, Conrad says the plot is anything but reality, telling MTV News “I didn’t take anything specifically that happened to me. The only thing that I did was … it was a way to show not necessarily me, but just the other side of being on a show like ours.”

The novel’s main character is a girl, Jane Roberts, who moves to Hollywood and gets her own reality show called L.A. Candy. Eventually she works at an “events” company and chronicles the drama of her personal and professional lives.

Handbag.com and Cancer Research UK have announced a new partnership with the launch of the first ever Handbag Amnesty. Taking place throughout the month of September – www.handbag.com’s dedicated handbag month – and climaxing in October, the Handbag Amnesty will give women across the country the opportunity to bid for the designer handbag of their favourite celebrity including just to name a few Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller and Dame Shirley Bassey, to raise money to help beat cancer.

The Handbag Amnesty, however, is not just about celebrities.
