Latest Obsession: Crystal

Posted on 07 January 2010 by Angelique

This season we can’t seem to get enough of things that sparkle, as these crystal jewelry pieces attest.

1116N-2

Boutique to You is taking preorders for the CC Skye Crystal Angel Wing Necklace that you might have seen on Rihanna. All your friends will be asking where you got it.

chamak bangles

At Bluefly you can find this Chamak by Priya Kakkar set of five white crystal pave bangles. Bold and eye-catching, these bangles dress up any outfit.

fenton fallon crystal bow

The Fenton-Fallon for J. Crew Carrington crystal bow necklace is crafted from Swarovski crystals and Czech stones. It’s finished with two hand-dyed and hand-tyed silk ribbons.

emporio crystal watch

How about a new crystal-encrusted watch? It’s jewelry, and it’s practical. This embellished steel, bracelet style watch from Emporio Armani features crystal detail.

Since rings are big this year both literally and figuratively, you can’t go wrong with this Sorrelli Crystal Cluster Ring. It’s available in cranberry, amaretto, milky way, and super multi.

So get out there and sparkle! We need every bit of brightness we can get this time of year.

Exclusive Deals for the Holidays

Posted on 15 December 2009 by Angelique

Why is it that on an ordinary day in, say, April, you’ll see something and think to yourself, “That would make the perfect gift for my sister/mother/niece/daughter/girlfriend. I’ll have to remember this at Christmas!” And then when it actually is Christmas and you’re shopping overtime, your mind draws a blank any time you try to think of something to get the people on your gift list. Frustrating.

Here’s a list of a few awesome holiday gift ideas for that best friend, favorite aunt, or covetous fashion blogger (ahem) in your life.
crystal stud ring

Let’s start with this hot pink crystal studded cocktail ring. This is pure fun. It’s chunky, gorgeous, and has a slightly retro look to it. I guarantee that whoever you give this ring to will put it on immediately and refuse to take it off, even when everyone is asking politely if they can try it on. The recipient will most likely sleep in it too, just like you did when you got that sparkly tiara for Christmas when you were six.

Makeup kits are great fun no matter what time of year, and this Sexy Starlet kit from Benefit includes three favorites done up in a fabulous pink and gold clutch box. You get CORALista cheek powder, a warm coral shade, Some Kind-a Gorgeous oil free foundation faker, and a tube of BADgal lash mascara. With a tube of tinted lip gloss, this could be a person’s entire weekend makeup kit.

La Mer has been around for almost a decade. Designer Martine is inspired by her world travels, and this amazing watch is something that will definitely draw the good kind of attention. It’s different, but it’s done in black with a classic watch face. I can’t think of a better nod to this season’s slightly tough girl 80s vibe than this La Mer watch with gorgeous leather straps. I wouldn’t get this for the same person you get the hot pink cocktail ring for, however. It will go to their head and they’ll be completely insufferable from then on.

Maybe you noticed a trend among these selected gift ideas: they’re all small. There’ll be no hassle trying to get this stuff in your carry-on bag or in the trunk of your car, and none of it is going to weigh you down. And there’s a lot of truth to that “great things come in small packages” cliche. If it’s in a box the size of a piece of Christmas fudge, you know it isn’t a household appliance, so that’s a point in its favor already.

Taking the buzz away from Brangelina’s rocky relationship, the new “it” story on the hot couple is their serpent-themed jewelry line for luxury jewelry brand, Asprey, which launched today. This slithery snake trend is making a fashion statement with the likes of celebrities, including Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba and Miley Cyrus who have all been spotted wearing these charming styles from baseball games to Red Carpet Events-the only problem being, you have to spend like a celebrity with prices starting at $525.

Online jewelry boutique, MyJewelryBox.com offers the fashion-conscious world the same style with their black diamond snake ring for only $195.

Get the Look: Rihanna’s “Hands-On” Style

Rihanna’s on-tour faves—Little Rooms and Skinny.

Rihanna left for her tour from JFK in New York wearing rings from the two brands, and hasn’t taken them off since!  Like an homage to her own gun tattoo, Rihanna has been photographed wearing Little Rooms’ Gun Frame ring constantly.  The Double Floating ring from Skinny is always close at hand as well, as both these pieces have become staples in Rihanna’s wardrobe while she tours Europe.

Must Have Accessories Brought Back to Light

Posted on 22 September 2009 by Angelique

To escape the bleak and cold winter season and gloomy economic climate, jewelry designers want to enlighten consumers by creating bold and vibrant one of a kind jewelry.

Bright emerald green fused with neutral olive green and yellow, sun-kissed hues of pink and deep purplish blue gemstones were staples at many collections for this upcoming spring/summer 2010 season at New York Fashion Week.

Subversive Jewelry, shown at the Accessories Exhibit at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, New York is inspired by the Baroque era philosophy of extravagance fused with intricate detail, high energy, flamboyant colors and dynamic shapes and designs.

From ivy-shaped amber crystals hanging off a small link chain necklace lined with bead clusters to thick metal cuff bracelets adorned with turquoise and coral colored beads, Subversive Jewelry is all about overstated elegance.

The collection that defined itself by classic elegance with a contemporary spin is Alex Solider.  Robust and thick shapes decorated with multiple hues of green, yellow, purple and blue made this collection one in itself.

Alex Soldier’s collection is extreme opulence balanced with elegance, presenting each piece of jewelry with fashion forward timelessness and class.

Overstated dark and light green gemstones set in a yellow gold cocktail ring is the perfect accessory to wear with one of Halston’s white flowing dresses that reflect the true essence of summer.

Fun, Fab Summer Rings By TDM Design Inc!

Posted on 27 May 2009 by Jacqueline H

Well summer is finally here, and it is time to add those fun accessories to your collection. Well I have always enjoyed jewelry. And with so many great options for rings, earrings and bracelets. You can mix and match almost anything. But color is still rearing its head this season. So it may be time to opt for a nice colorful range of jewelry. Those created by your local artisan are always a great choice. But if you like that kind of thing, here is something fun for the summer. If you enjoy handmade jewelry with a fun zudo hip style. Then you may enjoy the Bellezza collection from emerging designer TDM Designs Inc.

This eclectic and fun collection is perfect for the young fashionista. And each ring is cleverly hallmarked with colorful and beautiful glass beads. Which add a flair of sophisticated glamour. Each piece is handmade, and has a very interesting ‘wire design’, accented with the glass beads. Retailing for $55 a piece. The Bellezza signature collection sure has an artisan feel, whilst maintaining a cool chic look.

They’re gorgeous, fun to wear and certainly conversation pieces! I would pair this look with a colorful scarf from the season as well. This just adds that extra dimension of color to your look!

I also had the wonderful opportunity of speaking with IMAN! Read this exclusive footage from my interview!

Jacqueline H: You also have an exclusive fashion accessories line with HSN – IMAN Global Chic. With a variety of jewelry and handbags to choose from. Where do you get your design inspirations for these fantastic accessories?

IMAN: Well a lot of my inspiration is gained from my travels around the world. And the Global Chic Line has influences of turkish and asian designs. Since their jewelry is very intricate. And each piece really shows an appreciation of fashion. Plus I wanted the line to be affordable, so that women can have well designed, and executed accessories at the best value possible. The Global Chic Line is sold exclusively through HSN, and is hugely successful!

Jacqueline H: To get back to fashion and beauty. IMAN we and our readers would love to know some of your fashion and beauty tips!

IMAN: Well I always say, “Stay away from trends!” And stick to what looks good on you! I love heels, but they can be so uncomfortable, so I will go with flats.

Jacqueline H: What beauty product or fashion accessory can’t you live without?

IMAN: I love jeans! They are great! As you can dress them up or down.

Jacqueline H: What do you do to relax with such a busy lifestyle?

IMAN: Well I love to go for massage. And I think that it is an essential, rather than a splurge! And having time spent with yourself, is so important, as we deserve it!

Jacqueline H: How do you stay in such great shape? And do you have any tips for us that we could use!

IMAN: Well I have to say that I have great genes! (Laughing). Well I love to walk a lot, especially around New York City. And get my cardiovascular in that way.

Jacqueline H: I always love to add a fashion trivia question to my interviews! IMAN there was a famous french designer, he use to say that “Fashions fade, but that style is eternal”?

IMAN: Now if you never mentioned that it was a ‘he’, I would of guessed Coco Chanel. But since you did I would guess Yves Saint Laurent?

Jacqueline H: Ah you are so good at this! That is correct! And yes I probably did give it away by mentioning that:).

Fashion Blog Love of the Week: Chic Stories

Posted on 23 January 2008 by Angelique

My favorite must read of the day fashion blog Chic Stories wrote a great post: Latest Jewelry Trends 2008

It’s time to place accents and think about choosing accessories for party dresses. You can choose either gold itself or just jewelry in a variety of gold tones. Just one more alternative – vermeil (sliver with a gold covering), it looks nice and costs less.
