Scarlett Johansson

Having recently made her directorial debut with the short film These Vagabond Shoes, actress Scarlett Johansson is now rumored to be one of the top actresses being considered for a new movie called My Week with Marilyn.

These Vagabond Shoes is a short film about ?¢‚Ǩ?ìThe tranquility of solitude break[ing] through the cacophony of the city as a man makes his way across Manhattan to the sea at Coney Island.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù It stars Kevin Bacon and recently debuted at the L.A. Shorts festival.

As for the Monroe film, producer David Parfitt and director Simon Curtis are reportedly considering Johansson along with Amy Adams and Michelle Williams for the part of Marilyn Monroe. The script is adapted from the diary of Colin Clark, who worked for Laurence Olivier in 1957 and was assigned to assist Monroe when she was in London to film The Prince and the Showgirl.

Clark?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s diary contains information about Monroe?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s visit to Queen Elizabeth?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s apartments in Windsor Castle and other behind-the-scenes moments. Though excerpts of the diary were published in 1958, the entries pertaining to one particular week (the one with Monroe) were kept private until Clark died in 2002. Those secret diary entries were adapted to form the plot of the film.

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds Skip the Shop Talk

Extreme Beauty In Vogue: Milan Fashion Week Womenswear A/W 2009

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson recently told Entertainment Weekly that she and her new husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t discuss their careers when they?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re chilling at home.

Johansson and Reynolds married in a private ceremony last fall, and they believe that by not bringing work home and chatting about movie making, they allow each other to simply be themselves. Said Reynolds, ?¢‚Ǩ?ìWe don’t have a lot of work talk around the house. We both prefer to just be ourselves at home. There’s no competition between us - we just don’t talk about it.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù

They?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re not the only famous filmmaking couple to leave the shop talk at work, director Sam Mendes, who directed his wife, actress Kate Winslet in the recent movie Revolutionary Road, says that when the two work together, they avoid bringing work home to keep some sanity in their home life, and because they?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re basically too tired at the end of a long day on set.

However, when they are working on separate projects, they?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re fine discussing it. Mendes said, ?¢‚Ǩ?ìIt can be really enjoyable because you’re hearing what’s going on on the set and what her problems might be tomorrow, and that’s really interesting.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù

Scarlett Johansson won?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t do Reality; might do Bride of Frankenstein

Moet & Chandon: A Tribute To Cinema - Arrivals

Scarlett Johansson

Lovely Scarlett Johansson has dismissed reports that she would star in a British reality show centered on four young female celebrities. Rumor had it that Johansson, along with Paris Hilton and Peaches Geldof and Alexis Dixon would be starring in the reality series.

The idea was that fans would have a behind the scenes look at these young women?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s careers and lifestyles for British ITV2?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s series Fearne. But Johansson denies that she has ever even been contacted by ITV2, and her representative Marcel Pariseau said, ?¢‚Ǩ?ìWe have never been approached about the Fearne Cotton show and Scarlett would never participate in this sort of show. Scarlett is a very private person. It?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s a complete fabrication.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù

There are also rumors that the 24 year old actress will take on the role of the Bride of Frankenstein in a remake of that 1934 movie, which will be scripted and directed by Neil Burger, who directed The Illusionist.

Though no final word has been given about the casting of the role of the bride of Frankenstein, sources say that Johansson and Anne Hathaway were being considered for the role.

Scarlett Johansson, recent star of He?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Just not that into You, will release an album of duets with songwriter Pete Yorn in September. She recorded the album, titled Break Up a few years ago, but Yorn had decided not to release it until recently. He wrote eight of the nine songs on the album. The ninth song is a cover version of ?¢‚Ǩ?ìBig Star.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù Yorn recently finished up a tour where he opened for Coldplay, and he has a new album coming out June 23. Yorn has played with the likes of the Foo Fighters, Weezer, The Dixie Chicks, and R.E.M.

Johansson has not lacked for work either. She recently appeared on the cover of the French version of Elle magazine wearing hardly any makeup. It follows up a French Elle series of eight covers for June, which featured Eva Herzigova, Charlotte Rampling, and Sophie Marceau?Ǭ† and others without makeup in what many fashion pundits are calling a backlash against the high levels of photoshopping done on magazine covers.

The response to the June French Elle with the au natural inclinations was so positive that the magazine decided to do the same thing with their cover of Johansso

A Must Read: Why Do Designers Put Stars in Dud Duds?

Posted on 12 August 2008 by Angelique

by Leslie Gornstein

Scarlet Johansson

Hot is relative, my dear. Look at Jennifer Aniston, poor little spud-faced thing. Eyes like a Siberian husky, she has. And yet some people just adore her looks, and think she’s a Greek goddess in the manner of Aphrodite or Persephone. Then there’s Sarah Jessica Parker. Someone at Vogue must have thought she was pretty, because they put her on the cover a few months back.

Same deal with designer dresses and accessories. One person’s hideous is another person’s irresistible. Otherwise, how do we explain ScarJo in that scary red-orange dress on the left that makes her look like a roadside warning cone? Or Jennifer Hudson in that space bolero at the Oscars? We don’t. That’s how.

But you can’t blame only the designer for creating an ugly dress. What about the middlemen? The minions? Find out who the real sinners are when it comes to bad red carpet looks, after the jump.
For the uninitiated, celebrities loathe any kind of hard labor. In Hollywood, cooking counts as hard labor. So does picking an outfit for the red carpet. Stars rarely do that themselves, instead relying on a hot stylists, like Jennifer Rade (Angelina Jolie) or Maria Serra, who is credited with getting Gwyneth Paltrow to finally show off her gams.

Stylists, in turn, have favorite, pet designers?¢‚Ǩ‚Äùclothiers they consider brilliant artists, good friends, or powerful benefactors who should never be told “no.” In those cases, I am told, stylists often take whatever the designer hands them and turn right around and slap it on the hapless celeb.

In other instances, “the designers give the stylist something for free, and the stylist feels obligated to put that on the client,” says fashionista Folake Kuye, who helped create the look for a Britney Spears video as well as magazine shoots before turning to her own fashion label, WeWe.

The celebrities, meanwhile, rarely question stylists’ choices.

“They prefer to rely on their stylists to make them look good,” Kuye says. “Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn’t.”
