Designer Spotlight: Australian Fashion Label Wish

Posted on 04 January 2010 by Angelique

The Iconic Australian fashion label called Wish wants to dress every girl in a fashion forward wardrobe that is beautiful, unique, and totally wearable. Wish collections take in the very best of the season and create garments that gracefully walk that fine line between feminine and edgy. This season, studs are in vogue, and Wish has taken notice. Their holiday dresses and tops are priced perfectly for giving as gifts, and Wish clothing can be found at boutiques nationwide.

The Olivia Zip Swing Dress is perfectly feminine yet isn’t afraid to color outside the lines. It’s made of natural fibres and is sheer, unlined, and stretchy. With a scoop neckline, wide straps, and racer back with zip detail, it fits loose and generous. The hem is pointed and curved and falls below the knee. You can get it in black or vintage gray. It’s perfect over tanks, tube tops, and leggings, whether belted or not.

The Melody Chiffon Dress is one-shouldered and made of sheer chiffon in black. The top is semi-fitted with a high waist. The skirt hem lands just above the knee. The flouncy shoulder strap cascades down the front and back, then all the way down the side to the hem.

Wow: talk about glamour! The Encore Beaded Dress is simple in design with wide straps and a scoop neck in front and back. It is fitted and drops to a low waist where it meets the flared, paneled skirt that falls to the mid-thigh. The entire dress is covered with sequins with larger sequins enhancing the skirt. You can get it in black with silver sequins or gold with gold sequins. This is a holiday party dress for the record books!

Here are a multitude of dresses wrapped up in one beautifully draped package. The New Look Drape Dress is low-backed and has a stretchy high waist. Ending in an asymmetric hem, it has two wide, long top parts that cross over in front. It can be worn in many different ways, from one-shouldered to keyhole halter style. It can also be worn as a skirt.

If you need a dress for the holiday season, the Cult Bodice Dress would be a great choice. It’s fully boned, and strapless, made of lightly crushed taffeta satin and is fully lined. The skirt is a ball gown style with a French parachute hem. The top features lovely ruching and a sash bow detail.

This line is for the confident woman who isn’t afraid to be different. Wish fills a desperate void of gorgeous, sophisticated, and decidedly non-matronly dresses for today’s woman.

Keep Yourself Looking Cozy and Cute This New Year’s Eve

Posted on 29 December 2009 by Angelique

NYE_big

Not all of us are planning on spending New Year’s Eve in a swanky club in New York or LA, sipping champagne while a celebutante DJ spins the hottest tracks. Every year when the ball drops I’m usually up in the mountains sneaking in some snowboarding and just enjoying a snow-filled holiday. Being in the cold and snow makes wearing a sexy little sequined  dress and sky-high heels rather impractical, yet I still want to have a little bit of NYE flair for the special night. If you’re like me and will be spending the holidays in somewhere cold and snowy, look to chic, warm knits and heavier soled shoes that are dressy, but still snowy weather practical. A knit camisole dress by 3.1 Phillip Lim shows just the right amount of skin while still having a thermal long underwear feel with the henley style buttons and wrap sleeve front. A digital plaid coat is warm and cozy for braving the elements and Tory Burch’s lug soled lace up boots will keep you more anchored than 5 inch Louboutins on icy patches will. But you can’t forget some traditional NYE sparkle and shine– a chunky jewel and chain necklace and some black tinsel striped tights will take care of that.

Get the Look for Less: Jessica Simpson

Posted on 10 December 2009 by Angelique

Jessica Simpson has been spotted in more than one airport with a silver sequin tote by Valentino that’s roomy and useful as well as being beautiful. The sequined handbag is the perfect holiday accessory, but if you can’t afford the same one as Jessica Simpson, there are plenty of other options out there, fortunately. Another great thing is that this time of year, you can carry a sparkly handbag with casual or dressy outfits.

Now, if you do have some cash to spare, this Valentino tux bag is made in cream and black and has sequins and a tuxedo design with a leather bow and crystals front and center. This is the kind of thing that will look perfect for the company Christmas party, particularly if you’re trying to avoid looking too provocative with your outfit.

For women on a budget, TopShop once again comes to the rescue with an oversized sequin covered bag in this season’s hot hobo style. The chain handles and detail add a little edge to the glamour. This, too will go just about anywhere with anything you choose to wear this season.

If you’re traveling and want to look nice at the airport and on the plane, then first of all, thank you. I keep expecting to see passengers in footie pajamas because of how little people care about how they look when traveling. Anyway, this bag, another hobo style, is big, as in big enough to use as a carry on bag. The handle is cushioned for comfort, and it’s covered in sequins in a classy grey, and lined in grey fabric.

There’s no question that sequins are big this season. If you were wary of wearing them before you had holiday events to attend, you weren’t alone. It definitely takes some courage to be the first in your posse to wear a sequined skirt, tank, or leggings. Handbags like these are perfect for those who like the sequin trend, but aren’t ready to dive in head first.

Fall Trend: Sequined Leggings

Posted on 27 August 2009 by Angelique

Murmurings about sequined leggings began about a year ago, and the buzz has grown almost deafening with the contribution of Custo Barcelona’s take on the look. Custo Barcelona, the design house from Spain, will use the largest venue in Bryant Park for their Spring 2010 collection because of the major media attention the brand has attracted. Custo, from Barcelona, takes many of his fashion cues from southern California beach culture. Custo Barcelona’s clientele are cosmopolitan, fashion forward men and women from all over the world who love his combination of European style and casual American comfort.

While the economy may be tough for most people these days, Custo Barcelona is growing and branching out. One of the designer’s latest projects was designing both the interior and exterior of MTV Networks Iberia’s three
Vueling planes for summer travel in the Mediterranean.

The excitement over Custo Barcelona’s clothing is largely because of his original take on graphic design: it’s like Emilio Pucci meets Andy Warhol. The brand includes swimwear, suits, tees, and now, the up-and-coming trend of sequined leggings.
